ARTICLE 6 EXTRA-CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR POSITIONS - Amendment I. Co-Curricular (Non-Athletic) and Extra-Curricular (Athletic) Activity Stipend 1. Point Values Persons employed in Board approved student activities and administrative activities will be paid upon satisfactory performance and attendance on the basis of a point value designated for each activity multiplied by a per point dollar value agreed to by the parties. The per point value for 2014-2015 will be $228.00 and $234.00 for 2015-2016. Positions covered in Appendix 8 are listed in Schedule B and Schedule C. All individuals currently receiving stipend amounts above a particular stipend listed in schedule B or C (per previous contracts) will retain their current stipend value until the stipend formula surpasses previous amount. If an individual is no longer assigned the stipend by a site administrator, the new stipend holder will receive the amount listed for this stipend in Schedule B or C. Positions covered by Section A are listed in Schedules B or C. 2. Adjustments, Appeals, Determinations of Points for New Positions a. When, for all of the reasons cited below, it may be necessary to adjust or determine a point value for a specific activity, the stipend review committee will be convened to consider the matter. The stipend review committee shall be approved by the RSU No. 2 Board of Directors prior to its first meeting in October. The stipend review committee consists of one (1) administrator, an RSU 2 athletic director, and two (2) teachers. The two (2) teachers shall be named by the Association, one (1) of whom will be a teacher involved in nonathletic stipends and one (1) of whom will be a teacher involved in athletic stipends. In the event that no teacher active in these activities volunteers, then teachers with prior participation will be named. The Superintendent and the Board of Directors shall name the administrator and the athletic director. The term shall be for one (1) year, renewable annually. Meetings shall be held at a specific time pre-set by the stipend review committee and notification of such meetings shall be posted for all District personnel. Decisions made by the panel will be in the form of recommendations to the Board of Directors for implementation in the next budget year. b. New Position If the Board creates a new stipend activity, the Board shall determine the stipend amount to be paid for the first year. In the event the Board decides to continue the activity beyond the first year, the Superintendent shall notify the President of the Association in writing and request that the stipend review committee determine an appropriate point value for the activity. The stipend review committee shall submit its recommendation to the Board and the Association for approval not later than February 1st. c. Adjustments to Stipend When the Board of Directors or the administration effects a significant change in a student activity, which has a relationship to the point value formula, the stipend review committee will be convened to consider the impact or the change. The stipend review committee shall submit its recommendation to the Board for approval.

d. Appeal of Existing Stipend Should an individual, who has held a stipend position for one season, believe that the point value determined for that position is inaccurate or unfairly determined, that individual may, in writing, appeal to the stipend review committee by January 1 through the Administrative staff. The stipend review committee will consider the merits of the appeal. The stipend review committee shall submit its recommendation to the Board for approval. e. Stipends from Previous Contracts without a Point Value Stipends from previous town contracts that do not have an assigned value will be provided a point value by the stipend committee. If a stipend point value is determined to be below what the current person is receiving, that person s stipend will be retained at its current value until a new advisor / coach is assigned. J. Other Non Co/Extra Curricular Stipends Schedule C 1. If the Board creates a new stipend activity, the Board shall determine the stipend amount to be paid for the first year. In the event the Board decides to continue the activity beyond the first year, the Superintendent shall notify the President of the Association in writing and request that the stipend review committee determine an appropriate point value for the activity. The stipend review committee shall submit its recommendation to the Board and the Association for approval. 2. Any activity funded by a grant is exempt from the stipend review committee/negotiations process until such time as the grant monies are no longer available and the Board funds the activity from non-grant monies. At that time, the Board shall notify the President of the Association in writing and shall submit the activity to the stipend review committee to determine an appropriate point value. The stipend review committee shall submit its recommendation to the Board and the Association for approval.
