The ETB provides education services across the three local authority areas Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown, South County Dublin and Fingal. This booklet provides information about classes in our new centre in and also in the wider Dún Laoghaire area. Eligibility for Free Part-Time Courses We provide a range of part-time QQI (formerly FETAC) certification and non accredited courses in our centre in and also in various locations in the Dún Laoghaire area. These course are free to people who have less than the Leaving Certificate level of education are in receipt of a social welfare payment are dependent on someone who gets a social welfare payment have a current medical card are signing for credits 3

You can get here by taking the number 111or 7 bus and getting off on the Wyattville Road. Alternatively you can take the 145, 84 or 84/A bus which will leave you on the Bray Road near the Wyattville Road. You can also walk from the Cherrywood LUAS stop. 4 Community Venues Early Childhood Care &Education QQI Level 5 Ballybrack This is a part time QQI Level 5 Award which enables participants to explore the area of Childcare with a view to gaining employment in that area. The course in delivered at a convenient location at times that suit parents with children in school. One module is delivered per term on Friday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon until the module is complete. Participants will need to complete 8 modules in order to gain the major award certificate. Certificate in Community Care QQI Level 5 Sallynoggin This is a part time QQI Level 5 Award which enables participants to explore the area of Community Care with a view to gaining employment in that area. The course in delivered at a convenient location at times that suit parents with children in school. One module is delivered per term on Monday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon. Participants will need to complete 8 modules in order to gain the major award certificate. Module to be confirmed. Reading, Writing and Spelling and other courses We deliver a range of different course if you would like to improve and become more confident in any of the following areas reading writing spelling maths computers The courses are free and take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, mornings or afternoons, and on Monday and Wednesday nights. The groups are small and the atmosphere is friendly and respectful. Many new students start with 2 hours per week and there are also intensives courses up to 6 hours per week. When you are ready you can go onto QQI accredited courses at levels 2 4. You can enrol any time of the year, September to June. The subjects are delivered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings in the DDLETB Training Centre. You can choose one or more of the following subject modules and each runs for from 2 hours per week. The days and the number of hours per week depend on the subjects you choose. Word Processing L3 Communications L3 Personal Effectiveness L3 Maths L3 Spreadsheets L3 Personal Care and Presentation L3 You will receive a QQI minor award if you successfully complete one module and there is an opportunity to achieve a major award, the QQI L3 Certificate in General Learning if you complete all. Adult Education Guidance is provided throughout the course. QQI Level 4 course: UPSKILL September 2016 This is an access course which gives you an opportunity to build on and improve your education skills and also take a range of subjects in different vocational areas. This gives you an opportunity, along with the work experience module to see which area you might like to work in or to go on into further education or training. The course is on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings for 16 hours per week in the DDLETB Training Centre. The following modules are delivered. Information Technology Skills L4 Communications L4 Maths L4 Teamworking L4 Human Biology L4 Customer Service L4 Human Growth and Development L5 Work Experience L4 If you successfully complete all modules you will achieve a major award, the QQI L4 Certificate in General Learning. Adult Education Guidance is provided throughout the course. We also have QQI L3 and L4 courses in computers particularly to help with your English skills. The courses are free to people who have refugee status, are asylum seekers or migrant works with low levels of education. You are also eligible if you receive a DSP payment or are a dependent on someone who receives a payment. The courses are in the mornings Monday to Friday and also Monday and Wednesday nights in the DDLETB Training Centre.
