Rain Date: Friday, June 9 th 7, 2017

On behalf of Morley s teachers and staff members, we d like to express our sincerest thanks for the delightful brunch and sweet treats provided during Staff Appreciation week. Thank you for the spectacular feast enjoyed by all! Backpack Brigade Time and Backpack Tag Sale Time! The Annual Morley Backpack Brigade: June 13 th 9-11 am (rain date 6/14) Second Annual Backpack Brigade: Tag Sale: May 17 th, 18 th and 19 th before and after school on the Morley blacktop. This is the community event where all students and families donate backpacks or money to purchase them $15-$20(checks can be made out to Dawn O Connor who does all the shopping for the backpacks) so that all West Hartford students start off next year with the necessary school supplies. Since 2009, Morley school has been a big part of this effort donating 300-400 backpacks a year. West Hartford Social Services then disseminates over 600 backpacks and gift cards for supplies to families in need. It's a fantastic program! Our Second Annual Backpack Brigade Tag Sale to raise money for this effort will be held May 17, 18 and 19 before and after school on the Morley blacktop. The Student Council is asking for items to sell. See the list below. Also, we'll need some volunteers to help set up and clean-up each day. Watch for more announcements as we get closer. Families can start bringing in items any time. Clean those closets, basements and toy boxes. Your cast-offs are someone else's treasures. ENROLLMENT INFORMATION ARE YOU MOVING? In order to get the most accurate numbers as possible for next year s enrollment, we need your help. If you will be moving out of the Morley district for the 2017-2018 school year, please call the school office. If you have a 5th grader who will not attend King Philip or Bristow Middle School, we need that information also. Otherwise, all 5th grade student records will move on to King Philip or Bristow Middle School. It s Coming to the End of the Year... Do you Know Where Your Library Books Are? As we head into the end of the year, we ask that our students find and return all library books NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, June 2 nd. This is in order to conduct our annual inventory of the library collection. Most of the time the books can be found in lockers, desks, under beds, in closets, or at Grandma s house. However, If your child has lost a book, or if their book is damaged, please make arrangements to reimburse Morley School for the cost of replacing the item. Please check backpacks for overdue notices. If you have any questions, please contact the Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Smith, at brenda_smith@whps.org. We appreciate your cooperation in teaching your children about being responsible for the privilege of using library books, so that they can be enjoyed by all our students. Thank you!

CALLING FUTURE KINDERGARTNERS If you have (or know) a child (5 years old on or before 1/1/18), eligible for kindergarten in Fall 2017, please call the school office (233-8535).
