Walpole Cross Keys Primary School Newsletter 18th November 2016 Hello everyone, Excitement is in the air at Walpole Cross Keys as Christmas is lurking around the corner. We have been busy planning our Christmas festivities, read on for more information. Last Friday our Key Stage 2 children placed a wreath they had made at the war memorial in Walpole Cross Keys, we were very proud of how they all behaved during this special moment of reflection. On Friday afternoon some of the children from Years 1 and 2 visited Lynnsport for the Key Stage 1 Festival where they took part in events such as the beanbag challenge, dominoes and zoneball. We enjoyed meeting all the parents who took time to attend the parent consultations last Thursday, and we would also like to thank those who completed the questionnaires. Your feedback really is valued therefore we would encourage you all to complete the questionnaire and hand to the office as soon as possible. As always, if do you have any concerns, in the first instance please speak to your class teacher. Best Wishes, Ms J.Borley (Executive Head Teacher) Gala 2nd Round Three of our children from Key Stage 2 managed to get as far as the second round of the St Clements swimming gala. They tried their absolute hardest and we are extremely proud of them for getting this far especially up against county swimmers. Well done St Clements Cluster Athletics Some of our Key Stage 2 children attended St Clements High School yesterday to take part in the St Clements Athletics competition. They have all qualified for the next round as the cluster s Small School Representatives. The second round will take place on 2nd December, we will let you know how they all get on. Could all parents ensure the PE kits are washed and returned to school as soon as possible. School Photographs By now you should have all received your child s school photograph. If you wish to place any orders please ensure they are with the office no later than Friday 25th November. If you place your order after this date you will incur a delivery cost of 5 per order.

Communication As a result of the recent parent questionnaires, we sent out a letter this week to all parents letting you know about our new paperless approach starting on Monday 21st November. We would be grateful if you could return your completed slip on Monday. Please note, all of the general letters we send out to parents are uploaded to our school website. To view them all you need to do is: visit the website click on Parents then Letters to Parents If you are unsure whether you have received a letter please check the website or speak with the office. Attendance Award The cup has been awarded to the following classes: w/c 31st October: Years 1, 2, 4 and 6 (100%) w/c 7th November: Years 4 and 6 (100%) Star of the Week Award Well done to our recent stars : w/c 31st October: Evan (Year 1) Liene (Year 3) Jake (Year 5) w/c 7th November: Krystian (Year R) Hollie (Year3) Jackson (Year 5) Keep up the good work everybody. iroundup Coming soon to Parent Pay The award-winning charity fundraising idea, iroundup, enables parents to add a donation whilst paying on ParentPay. How does iroundup work? Once items due for payment have been added to your basket, proceed to the checkout. The option to add a voluntary contribution for the iroundup charity will be displayed below the list of items in the basket. If you wish to contribute, select Add donation, the iroundup item will then be added to the basket. The donation is a fixed figure based on the total value of the items in the basket, and cannot be edited. It can be removed from the basket if required. Please keep checking your basket for this optional donation as we are unsure when this will start. Tombola Prizes The PTA have placed a drop box for you to place any donations for the school s Christmas tombola taking place during the Christmas Carols and Fayre on Monday 12th December. The box is located within the canopy area of the school. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support.

We will let you know how much we raised in our next newsletter. Forms Thank you all for your continued support completing and returning all the forms and slips we send out to you. We really do appreciate it. Other News Art Club: Unfortunately we have had to cancel the next two sessions of Art Club. The next, and final, session will therefore take place on Monday 5th December. Water Bottles: Could you please remind your child to take their water bottles home every day. We are worrying some of the children are consuming water that has been in their bottles for a long period of time. SEND Coffee Afternoon: Are you a parent/carer of a child with SEND or a SENCo supporting them. The St Clements Cluster of schools is hosting a SEND coffee afternoon with a walkthrough of the local offer website and how it can be used to inform and support families who have children with SEND. This will be held on 8th February 2017 from 1:00pm to 2:30pm at Terrington St Clement Primary School. Road Crossing Patrol: At the Children s Services Committee on 15 November it was agreed that Norfolk County Council would publicly consult on a proposal to only continue to fund Road Crossing Patrol sites that continue to meet the threshold recommended in the national guidance from Road Safety GB, previously Local Authority Road Safety Officers Association). Unfortunately the crossing patrol that supports this schools does not meet the national threshold. If you wish to respond to the consultation you can access it at https://norfolk.citizenspace.com/consultation/ roadcrossingpatrols. We hope you have a lovely weekend. Our next school newsletter will be sent out on Friday 2nd December 2016
