COMMUNITY COLLEGE TRANSFERS Quick Facts 70% of FLC s students indicate transfer as their educational goal. 66% of students earning a degree from CSU began at a California Community College. 33% of UC bachelor's degrees are awarded to students who started out at California Community College. Junior Level community college transfer students are given the highest admissions consideration of all transfers who apply to UC and CSU.

Where Do FLC Students Transfer? 2015-16 FLC Transfers Top 5 CSU s (15-16) CSU Number of Transfers Sacramento 221 San Francisco 15 Chico 10 Monterey Bay 9 Humboldt 8 UC s (Fall 15 only) UC Number of Admits/Rate Davis 55 (58%) Santa Cruz 24 (73%) San Diego 23 (62%) Santa 18 (45%) Barbara Irvine 17 (47%) Los Angeles 11 (32%) Riverside 8 (47%) Berkeley 6 (11%) Merced 3 (36%)

THE TRANSFER PROCESS DEFINED Community College Transfer To complete the first two years of study at community college and transfer as a junior to finish the last two years at a 4 year institution. Called upper division transfer. Majority of public 4 year colleges require students to transfer as upper division transfers. Community College transfer process very different from high school. Admission based on community college coursework only. High school grades (a-g) and standardized tests (SAT/ACT) not used.

BASIC TRANSFER REQUIREMENTS Students need 60 transferable units Courses numbered 300-499 in Los Rios Complete admission and general education courses CSU s and UC s accept up to 70 units! Earn a transferable GPA* of 2.0 (CSU) 2.4 (UC) *CA Residents

PREPARING FOR THE MAJOR Commonly overlooked by students! Students often believe they only need GE to transfer. Universities EXPECT major prep to be done! This makes students competitive for admission AND will save time and money after transfer. Major requirements are often more important than GE. Some majors have NO major prep; some have 55 or more units! Which major prep is needed? Check out: www.assist.org

TRANSFER ADMISSION GUARANTEE (TAG) FLC currently maintains TAG s with 31 colleges and universities UC s Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz CA Privates Golden Gate, St. Mary s, University of the Pacific Out of State Arizona State University HBCU s (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) Bennet, Behune-Cookman, Central State, Clark-Atlanta,Dillard, Edward Waters, Fisk, Florida Memorial, Grambling State, Huston-Tillotson, Kentucky State, Lane, Lincoln, Philander Smith, Stillman, Talladega, Tougaloo, Tuskegee, W. Virginia State, Wiley

TIPS FOR GRADUATING SENIORS Keep your math and English skills fresh your senior year. You are placed where you assess at FLC Make sure to send AP/CLEP test scores to FLC once you have applied. Credit by exam can give you college credit and exempt you from having to take specific college courses. Apply for financial aid regardless if you think you will qualify! Start English and math as soon as you get to FLC! Your major may require extensive levels of math, which can add to the length of time at community college. See a counselor regularly! In college, you do not have an assigned counselor like in high school. Your counselor will help you develop an education plan to meet your goals.
