Hola! Todo Sobre Mi My name is Monica Linnell, I am a Native Spanish Speaker, I was born in Mexico City on Cinco De Mayo aka Cinco D Monica. I have 17 brothers and sisters. I have lived In Hermosa Beach for 23 years; have a loving husband and three boys who are presently students at Hermosa Valley School, USC and Michigan State. I have been a parishioner at Our lady of Guadalupe for many years and enjoy being actively involved with the our community. I launched my first Spanish language Program Mis Amigos Spanish Enrichment www.linnellfamilyconcierge.com in 2008 and I have loved every minute of it. Our Lady of Guadalupe School Spanish Class Overview TK 2 nd Grade Vision on Curriculum Some educators believe only target language should be used in the classroom. I view that the Spanish only setting to be a GOAL rather than a rule. Sometimes, in order to decrease anxiety and establish routine and give direction English will be used. Monthly Unit lesson presentations I utilize a lot of visuals in the elementary grades.. (posters, power points, books and many more ) TK & Kinder - Exposure to Spanish through Music of Jose Luis Orozco consistently in the background.. Introducing concepts in everyday Spanish; Greetings, Alphabet, Colors, Numbers, days of the week, Months of the year, Seasons, Community, Pet themes and weaving in cultural Hispanic events throughout the year.. In classroom lessons; will include themed lesson plans, consistent audio concepts through music and interactive games to reinforce lessons learned Suggested at home activities Very minimal recommended to Reinforce Conversational basics through exposure on Spanish tv shows and community cultural events. My goal is to expose your student to Spanish by capturing their interest through active participation activities. 1 st and 2 nd graders - Introduce Students to all of the above - All students will review previous concepts and work on current concepts at a more advanced level according to grade level by adding articles /subject pronouns if they are prepared to do so - See monthly plan toward bottom of document Sample Session Audio Music in background to promote auditory fluency Introduce weekly themed lessons with visual tools Verbal lesson / use of white board to reinforce new vocabulary lesson reinforcement Active participation lesson reinforcement Active lesson participation activity to promote lesson comprehension, audio and verbal (After all students are finished with written lesson reinforcement,) Students will come to the rug for: lesson Reinforcement: In the form of Vocabulary Word Target Games, Baloncesto Word Challenge,, Personalized Bingo and many more Citizenship I will utilize Green Spanish Cards to recognize /reinforce Amigo/Amiga Leadership

I will utilize Red Spanish Warning Cards to remind students make good choices - They will receive two verbal warnings after that a red card will be sent home and student will not be able to participate in Spanish Fun Friday. Spanish Fun Fridays Spanish PE Students will participate in outdoor active participation games intergrading Spanish vocabulary; body parts, Physical education, numbers, Spanish charades and many more activities to offer students an opportunity to apply their newly learned Spanish comprehension skills At home Reinforcement Your student will be given a reference booklet filled with practical tools to encourage at home Spanish Skill building (the booklet will stay at home for the duration of the school year). Homework HW Packets recommended to reinforce and retain all lessons learned. HW packets will be sent home the first week of October and to be returned to class on the date stated on the packet front page. Please encourage your student to work on a few pages per week NOT all at once and to complete in chronological order that the packet it is composed as it flows along with in class lesson plans.
