Innovation is one of our School Values, so I hope our Year 7s will now have the courage to think beyond the curriculum and develop their own projects in our many clubs and competitions - and that we may have some budding entrepreneurs in our midst. Hopefully, they ll now also know the value of stationery, and all those pens and pencils you supply them with! Here s a report from one our participants: On Tuesday 12 September I participated in the Year 7 Enterprise Day all about teambuilding. Everyone tried lots of new activities, including one of my favourites: the rollercoaster challenge, where you have to work as a team, in order to make the best rollercoaster out of all the resources that you are given. Also I enjoyed learning about profit and the world of business. Overall I thought is was a splendid day as I learned a lot about working as a team and listening to other people s ideas and opinions and I would definitely recommend that the school do more days like this. In School This Week Year 9 science students have enjoyed learning about inheritance and the structure of DNA by making a model out of different coloured sweets and cocktail sticks. The school has a comprehensive collection of classic literature not on display in the main library. Any student wishing to take these out please see the Librarian. We give out prizes at the end of the year to our top student readers and hope to see at a least a few of these titles taken out by our pool of prolific readers. We have already been impressed with a year 7 student who has chosen Swift s Gulliver s Travels. If you have any popular new titles that have been read over the summer holiday and are no longer going to be used, please consider donating these to the school collection. Any books that we do not keep will be given to charity. We would welcome leaflets on current and upcoming events for display in the Library so please pick up any information next time you take a trip to a museum, art gallery, local attraction or any other places of interest.

Please could we remind all families to use the front car park on Broom Road drop students at school by car and not the side entrance on Trowlock Way? This entrance is for students who cycle to school and it is helpful if car traffic at the start of the school day is minimised for the safety of all the students arriving at school. Please drive into the car park and do not stop on the yellow lines on Broom Road. Thank you for also for reminding your children to use the front entrance on Broom Road if they are on foot as there is no footpath on Trowlock Way. Thank you for support in this matter. Homework Timetables Please note that the homework timetables for students will updated and available on the school website shortly.
News from the Sixth Form On Wednesday 13 September Ms Thomas launched the new Sixth Form Mayor s award to Year 12 students. This is a joint initiative with Waldegrave and Hampton High. The Mayor s Award recognises the importance of being an active citizen and making a contribution to society. There is an increase of young persons bank accounts being used for criminal activity. Young people are being approached by criminals who are obtaining bank account and pin numbers, this is either done by force or for a financial incentive. Your support is needed to help educate young people around this issue. Bank accounts are private and must only be used by the account holder. Any misuse could not only be criminal but could cause serious credit issues for the account holder. The Police are working in partnership with many schools across London to combat this issue. Action Fraud is the tool to report any fraud. Detective Constable Dawn Wood, SCO7 Organised Crime Command
