Graduation Dates Graduation occurs three (3) times per year: October: For students who have completed all degree requirements by end of the SUMMER term January: For students who have completed all degree requirements by the end of FALL term May: For students who have completed all degrees requirements by end of the SPRING term Only ONE Convocation Ceremony is held annually in May for ALL graduates

Participation in the Convocation Ceremony: Students must complete the following requirements by the end of the Spring 2013 semester to participate in the May 2013 Convocation Ceremony: Attend a Mandatory Convocation Workshop Complete a minimum of 124 credits Earn a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher Complete all general curriculum, writing intensive, and major/minor requirements Pre-certified by your OAS advisor and major/minor academic advisor(s)

Special Circumstances Walking Policy Students who have met ALL requirements for a degree by the end of the Spring 2013 term AND have one of the following circumstances may complete a Request to Walk form: Have completed one major and are deferring graduation until the second major/minor is completed Are completing the Honors College Senior Project Are completing requirements for a Teacher s Certification through the Urban Education Department in the fall The Request to Walk form can be found in the Office of Academic Services and MUST be submitted to your academic advisor, Hill Hall 312, by Monday, April 1 st, 2013!

NJPAC Admission Tickets: NJPAC Seating Capacity is 2750 Every graduate and guest MUST HAVE a NJPAC ticket for admittance to the ceremony. The number of available tickets per graduate is contingent on the number of graduates. Tickets will be given out by tiers You will receive an email informing you of the number of maximum tickets available to each graduate and the ticket pick-up schedule.

Admission Tickets & Invitations In order to be eligible to pick up tickets, the student must: Attend a Convocation workshop Complete the Career Development Center (CDC) Senior Survey Invitations can be picked up in the Hill Hall Room 312 Photo ID MUST BE presented (RU ID is preferred) CDC Senior Survey is available via the OAS website: Download and return completed survey to the when you pick up Convocation guests tickets.

Guests Tickets In order to receive Convocation Ceremony guest tickets you: 1. MUST complete - Career Development Survey 2. MUST report to the, Hill Hall Room 312 to pick tickets during scheduled times ONLY! 3. MUST present ONE of the following forms of identification: Rutgers ID, NJ Driver s License or Government Issued ID *Upon arrival you will submit completed CDC survey, verify contact information on yellow card, and count the number of NJPAC guest tickets*

In room Instructions 2013 Convocation Ceremony Bring your gown, cap, tassel and hood with you to the assigned room (remember to bring bobby and safety pins). *Guests are NOT permitted in this area* When you report to your assigned room, you will check-in, receive your NJPAC ticket with an assigned seat number receive a 3x5 index card* with your name pronunciation, contact information, and line up number (this number will indicate the order in which you should line up) *Keep this card with you at ALL TIMES during the procession and hand it to the announcer as you walk across the stage at NJPAC. The announcer will announce Summa (3.850-4.00), Magna (3.700-3.849) and Cum Laude (3.500-3.699) for cumulative GPA candidates.

Line Up Instructions 2013 Convocation Ceremony Line up begins PROMPTLY at 9:15AM on the New Street Plaza (between Engelhard & Ackerson Halls) on University Avenue Graduates will be lined up in two lines and will be placed in alpha-numeric order beginning with UC-N followed by NCAS Faculty & staff marshals will assist with line-up Graduates will follow their respective marshals to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) Graduates will process to NJPAC with Rutgers Police and campus safety Graduates will process through designated door **ONCE THE PROCESSION HAS BEGUN, YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CEREMONY**

NJPAC Instructions 2013 Convocation Ceremony You must KEEP your index card at ALL times Graduates remain standing until the Chancellor instructs everyone to be seated The Chancellor, President, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences-Newark, Keynote Speaker, Student Speaker, and Alumni Association representative will address graduates Graduates will RISE and the Dean will confer the degree Marshals will usher graduates row by row to the stage Proceed on the stage with numbered index card your name will be announced name and honor status (if applicable) Individual photos will be taken by professional photographers on stage and as you receive a diploma jacket After all graduates have returned to their seats, the Chancellor will end the Convocation Ceremony

Special Notes for Guests 2013 Convocation Ceremony Students and guests can park in all Rutgers-Newark parking facilities for FREE Parking at NJPAC are designated for guests with limited mobility and/or special accommodations for a nominal fee It is recommended that students/guests with disabilities & the elderly be dropped off in front of NJPAC. Students must make prior arrangements with Charnette Hockaday and Ms. Rodriguez Babies and/or young children REQUIRE an admission ticket Babies and/or young children cannot sit with graduates and/or walk on the stage Guests seating in the theater is General Admission first come-first serve Guests with prior special accommodations will be assisted to the designated seating areas in the theater Special accommodations must be requested in writing to Charnette Hockaday chockada@andromeda.rutgers.edu and Gloria T. Parking Parking on the Rutgers-Newark campus will be FREE for all graduates and their guests. Parking will be available at Deck 1 on University Avenue and Deck II on Washington Street For patrons travelling to NJPAC by car, there is ample parking at NJPAC, secure underground and surface parking with 1,300 spaces in four convenient areas directly adjacent to and across from the arts center Each of the lots contain special parking locations for disabled patrons Prices for NJPAC parking lots on performance dates are as follows (as per NJPAC website): Military Park: $15 Lot A: $16 Lot B: $15 Lot C: $15

Dress and Decorum Clothing should be in good taste and comfortable. Comfortable shoes should be worn. Caps should be worn flat on the head (bring bobby pins to secure the cap) Honor Cords and pins may be worn on the outside of the robe (Contact your Honor Society for information on cords or pins) Leave your purse, cameras, and personal items with a family member or friend. Remember to turn your cell phone OFF! All guests are asked to remain in their seats during the ceremony and should respect the rights of others to view the ceremony in its entirety. Guests MUST REFRAIN from blocking the aisles by taking individual photographs Alcoholic beverages are PROHIBITED! DO NOT drink prior to the ceremony. University Police will confiscate alcoholic beverages and will remove inebriated persons from the processional and/or ceremony.
