Tennis results were close, while our AFL teams, now deep into state knockout and excellence rounds, found the games difficult. Track & field and golf will join the basketball / tennis / cross country / AFL action in the coming weeks. The Scots College visit from Sydney saw Iona win both the 12 Years rugby and football games. This weekend will include the Mere de Dieu Cup as part of the Ashgrove spring round of sport. Our 1sts teams now play for this Cup across all AIC sports with Ashgrove having won the rugby and chess, Iona having won football, and the cricket and volleyball cancelled. The Cup stands at 1 2 with basketball / tennis / water polo remaining. Swimming / cross country / track & field are used as a tie breaker if the 8 fixture results are equal at 4 4. Within our year of irespect, please be mindful of the following: Support for our teams needs to be positive and any Iona student attending Saturday sport MUST wear Iona uniform or Iona sports attire. Help is needed at the canteen throughout the basketball season. A small amount of parent generosity will ease the burden. The new tennis complex within St Eugene s Park is a magnificent addition to our college. We all need to be thankful to those associated with this development and in return, ensure that it is used and maintained appropriately. Sports Photos Years 5 and 6 basketball / 5AB and 6AB AFL / 5ABC Gold and White cricket, 6ABC and Gold cricket / 5F and 6E football team photos that have not been taken yet will be taken on Friday 11 August starting at 8.45am.
