Religious Education SPAR/Chaplaincy Pupils will be given the opportunity to visit our lovely chapel and explore SPAR - our school values. Date: 13th February Year Group: Various Monday 13th February 1.40pm - 2.40pm. Pupils will work alongside some of our pupil chaplains to explore how these values can be put into practice. Pupils will spend time identifying patternes in finger prints, looking at blood splatter and examining hair samples using microscopes. Two primaries per specified date, this will coincide with DT taster days therefore the date selected for Humanities will be the same date selected for DT (30 pupils per school split into two groups of 15). Design & Technology Textiles Date: 19th April & 10th May ENGLISH Shakespeare Taster Sessions Date: 20th April Shakespearean introduction and context and a drama activity using Shakespearean insults. Up to 10 pupils per school. Please confirm/decline if you will be attending this session and how many pupils you will be bringing. LANGUAGES Space Spanish vocabularly and games; matching, reading and writing activities based around the theme of space. Date: 17th May & 24th May Year Group: Year 4 Decorative Wristbands. Students will decorate and personalise felt wristbands.. The wrist bands will use bespoke The Barlow buttons and will be based on our Faith, Hope and Charity emblems. Pupils will gain skills in: Threading needle, Sewing buttons, Using hand embroidery. The end product will be theirs to take 15 pupils per school, first come first serve basis. Our specialist art staff will then judge the pupils work; a presentation will be carried out by the Head teacher (Mrs C McCarron) where the pupils will be issued with certificates with the winner having their work mounted on our walls here at The Barlow. English Competition This has been designed with an open theme to slot into your curriculum. Pupils are to write a piece of poetry; primary teachers will select the best three poems (per year group) and submit them into The Barlow on the above date. Our specialist English staff will then judge the pupils work; a presentation will be carried out by the Head teacher (Mrs C McCarron) where the pupils will be issued with certificates with the winner having their work mounted on our walls here at The Barlow. RE Stained glass window designs Please provide a time when you would like The Barlow to come in and talk to pupils and parents considering coming to Barlow.
