Grade 3 End of Year Keyboard Recital, 31 May 2017 MEPConcerts, 24 May 2017 Many thanks to all the teachers, students and parents for supporting this year s MEP Programme and recent performances. Enrollment for 2017-2018 has begun. Continuing students please see your current teachers, new students please see Ms. Wolff: rwolff@isbremen.de Meet Our CAS Students... Thays, Grade 11 For CAS Service, I teach soccer to seventeen children from the age of six to seven every Thursday. It might sound easy but it is definitely quite hard work. Mostly our routine starts with a warm up and then followed by playing football. While wanting to achieve our goal, which is teaching these kids football, we also always have to have a consensus while dividing the teams. Working with children is a lot of responsibility because we have to keep an eye on them during the whole game. If there is a foul, we make sure that the right person gets a penalty and we try to make sure that such a thing won t happen again. This might also be considered the most difficult part of the job. Even though it might sound a lot, I for my part actually still have quite a lot of fun teaching the young kids soccer and I also benefit from it (and not only for CAS). It is quite hard work, seeing that little children never really are that easy, but still I would recommend doing this for CAS. For more impressions of the MEP concerts, see attachments being sent with this Bulletin. 2 Parent Bulletin 2 June 2017
Poetry by ISB Students This week s poem was written by Bintia while in Grade 7 (currently in Grade 8). To Remember (a Jewish Perspective) Some Feared Others fought But death Was always inescapable For we were judged Not with words, but lies They knew no blame nor shame But shot without hesitation Without a hint of regret They claimed that they were Just following orders Though few spoke out Many foolishly followed Their actions speaking louder Than our words could We were the victims Of such gruesome deaths Such gruesome memories remain All hope buried deep Beneath proud racism And lacking humanity Their eyes promised no safety Nor place to hide They laughed at our loss To save themselves And after, conspired in silence But no words can help us now Words are too little, too late To remember is all that is left. ISB Photo Calendar We have already received wonderful images for our ISB Photo Calendar 2018. With the new month of June images of ice-cream, bicycle tours and outdoor living come to mind. Make use of the (hopefully) warm weather to go out and about with your cameras! We re looking forward to seeing what you come up with... All photographs to: ddodds@isbremen.de. University and Career Guidance Counselling (Grades 9-12) UKCAT For medical and dental courses, most UK universities require applicants to sit an admissions test in addition to their other entry requirements. The UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT: https:// www.ukcat.ac.uk/) is required by the majority of University Medical and Dental schools in the UK and must be sat in the summer of 2017 by candidates who want to apply to member universities for entry in 2018 (or deferred entry in 2019). What is the UKCAT? The UKCAT helps universities to make more informed choices from amongst the many highly-qualified applicants to medical and dental programmes. It is used in conjunction with other admissions processes such as the UCAS application and academic qualifications. The UKCAT is a computer-based test. It does not contain any curriculum or science content but instead focuses on exploring the cognitive powers of candidates and other attributes considered to be valuable for health care professionals. Who should sit the test? A full list of universities / courses that require the UKCAT is available at https://www.ukcat.ac.uk/ukcattest/ukcat-universities/. Students sit the test during the summer before they submit their UCAS application in October. Where can candidates sit the test? The test is delivered via computer in partnership with Pearson VUE at over 150 UK authorised test centres and in around 100 countries worldwide. Candidates are encouraged to register and book early to ensure they get a test slot at their chosen test centre.
