PROJECT WORK EXPERIENCE Worked full time on the post of Research Associate under ICSSR Project entitled A STUDY OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND AGRICULTURE IN THE CATCHMENTS AREA OF CHAMBAL RIVER (Joining date: 17 august 2012 to 16 January 2013). Further; I was involved its broader completion and my PhD topic CLIMATE CHANGE AND AGRICULTURE: A STUDY OF INDORE DISTRICT is closely related to it. 1

Project Details It is a Major Research Project sanctioned by Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) which aims at studying how the climate is changing in the catchment area of River Chambal and how agriculture can cope with such changing nature of climate. Area mainly covers the 8 districts of Malwa namely Indore, Dewas, Ujjain, Dhar, Mandsaur, Ratlam Neemuch and Shajapur. On a secondary data basis project emphasizes whether the climate in these districts is experiencing a change or not. We have tried to analyze that by making use of 8 climate variables namely temperature, precipitation, vapour pressure, diurnal temperature range, wet day frequency, cloud cover, reference crop evapotranspiration and potential evapotranspiration. We have collected data spanning over more than a century and have applied econometric and statistical tools to analyze nature of change experienced over these climate parameters. This constitutes first level of analysis. The next stage comprised of knowing the agricultural profiles of the above mentioned districts, studying the changes experienced in agricultural patterns with respect to the phenomenon of climate change. This stage emphasized on knowing the Farmer s Status and Perception with respect to the existing interlinkages between agriculture and climate change. This has been supplemented with Adaptation and Mitigation Behaviour of Farmers towards Climate Change in the Region. Finally the project-completion has focused on studying Climate Change Adaptation by Farmers with special reference to Rain Water Harvesting Practices in the Region. This has been done by primary survey involving questionnaire / schedule. The issues underlined overall are managing agriculture with efficient water management in a changing climate scenario. The project has now been submitted to the ICSSR, New Delhi and I was involved in the Questionnaire designing, Survey (Partly), Data Analysis and Report Writing of the project. ACADEMIC VISION I am passionate for both teaching and research. My vision incorporates a teaching pedagogy in which both the elements are being given an equal weightage. Teaching implies transfer of knowledge which has already been created while research lays thrust on creation of new knowledge. Economics is one of the most dynamic and sophisticated disciplines which experience changes on a day to day basis. So, Economics cannot be understood without an interdisciplinary approach, a passion for current-affairs and most importantly thrust on research. In today s era Economics borrows heavily from disciplines like those of Mathematics, Statistics, and Logic along with the traditional areas of Administration, Law, Politics, History and Sociology. It is also quite significantly dependent on Computer based operations so that appropriate models can be build and solutions can be found for real-life economic problems in varied domains. A holistic pattern of learning is thus the need of the hour where knowledge is not imparted strictly through water-tight compartments. Interdependence rather than independence with supreme focus on problem solving thus lies at the heart of my overall academic vision. These solutions are then needed to be communicated well to the society at large. Hence, good verbal and written communication skills are a prerequisite for development of discipline as a whole. Regarding teaching, I am of the opinion that students should be strengthened in terms of the basics of the discipline and then should be encouraged to explore questions on their own. Group discussions, Quizzes, Role-Plays along with usual Power-point presentations and Class Lectures are my preferred ways of dissemination as well as creation of knowledge. Spirit of innovation is the basic force which keeps me motivated while carrying out any academic endeavour. 3

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERTISE Teaching Research Data Analysis Policy Analysis Writing Editing Public Speaking Leadership Community Outreach Team Work Public Relations Administration Overall I am a confident, level-headed, challenge-loving and ambitious person. I look forward to wonderful opportunities and challenging tasks in the area of teaching and research. My Majors are in Economics with specialization in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics.
