Sergeant at Arms :HARBHAJAN CLUB EVENTS: On 12 th July, 2013 Joint Installation Ceremony was held at Royal Bengal Room, City Centre 1, Salt Lake, organized by R C Calcutta Eden, R C Calcutta Old City and our Club. Chief Guest, Dist. Governor, Rtn. Rajani and Guest of Honour, Dist. Governor Elect, Rtn. Pinaki Graced the occasion. The evening s Guest Speaker was Rtn. Utpal Chatterjee, former Sherriff of Calcutta. The ceremony was opened by the Chief Sergeant at Arms, Rtn. Harbhajan Singh Thethi. First Lady of our Club, Anne Debjani felicitated the Chief Guest, Rajani Da and his wife Ballari Boudi. Rtn. Balaka of R C Calcutta Old City felicitated Past Dist. Governor, Angshuman Da and his wife, Jaya Boudi. Past Dist. Governor, Swapan Da was felicitated by Rtn. Rashu of Calcutta Eden. Senior Rotarians, Rtn. Brojo Gopal of R C Calcutta Old City and Rtn. Chitta Ranjan of our Club efficiently and effectively anchored the evening s programme. The Joint Installation ceremony commenced with lighting of the Lamp by Dist. Governor, Rtn. Rajani & Ballari Boudi and the Presidents and First Ladies of the respective Clubs. Rtn. Utpal Chatterjee s speech on Rotary Image and spreading the brand value of Rotary through our community services and projects was inspiring and encouraging. Changeover ceremony was brief outgoing President putting the collar on the incoming President followed by delivery of hammer and gavel. The District Governor handed over the Club Charter to the incoming President of each Club. The outgoing and incoming Presidents and Secretaries exchanged Mementos. Each of the new Presidents introduced their respective Governing Body members and posed for photographs with the District Governor. The District Regional Rotary Coordinators and Assistant Governors were also felicitated and the neighbouring Club Presidents, Secretaries and District Officials were recognized. The Rotaractors of R C Calcutta South City were complimented for their cooperation and services and specially recognized by the Club President. Chief Guest of the evening, Rajani Da was as always precise, brief and focused in his speech. His speech covered all areas of rotary right from enhancing Rotary image to delivering the resources to the ultimate beneficiaries. Vote of thanks was delivered by PP. Rtn. Uditendu Dutta Majumdar of R C Calcutta Eden. I have received several mails and messages from neighbouring Club Presidents and District Officials complimenting the members of the three Clubs for such a nice, brief and enjoyable changeover ceremony.

Club Projects and Events: a) Eye Camp was held at Nopany Vidyamandir, Girish Park, supported by Priyamvada Birla Eye Foundation. R C Calcutta Green City, R C Calcutta Dream City, R C Calcutta Lake Town, R C Calcutta Eden and our Club were the host of this project. From our Club, President attended the project. b) On 16 th July, 2013, a meeting was convened to discuss on Training Teachers by Humanity Foundation, England. Shri Joy Mukherjee and Smt. Anita Mukherjee explained the need for such trainings in Indian context. Rtn. Kuldip Singh Virdi suggested that, he shall contemplate to arrange an interactive session with the teachers and Principal of Khalsa High School. Rtn. Sanjit, Rtn. Tapas, Rtn. Kuldip, Rtn. Harbhajan, Rtn. Suranjan and the President attended the meeting. c) Our Club is committed to sponsor Mid Day Meal to Behala Naba Proyas, that commenced on and from 1 st April, 2013. First quarter payment has been made. Rs. 30,000/- is to be made for the second quarter. The Governing Body is pleased to appreciate the benevolent gesture of Rtn. Lipika, Rtn. Rajeev, Rtn. Sanjay, Rtn. Pramod and Rtn. Tripti for their commitment to contribute Rs. 5000/-, Rs. 1,000/-, Rs. 1,000/-, Rs. 2,000/- and Rs. 1,000/- respectively. d) Our Club is committed to contribute Rs. 12,000/- to Visually Handicapped Society towards the literacy project for the period 1 st July 31 st December, 2013. The Governing Body is indebted to the contributions of Rs. 6,000/- each committed by Rtn. Dibyendu and Rtn. Pramod. e) Our Club is committed to contribute Rs. 6,000/- for the period 1 st July 31 st December, 2013 to RCC at Khandalia for the Rota School and RCC Computer Centre. The Governing Body is indebted to Rtn. Pramod for his commitment to contribute Rs. 3,000/-. Balance Rs. 3,000/- shall be contributed by Club President. f) RCC Khandalia has forwarded their requirements and project for the Independence Day Celebration and the same has been forwarded to Rtn. Kuldip Singh Virdi for discussion in RWM this day. g) Received an estimate for toilet and a proposal from President, R C Calcutta Dream City for joining in a project to construct 400 nos toilets. The same is forwarded to Rtn. Kuldip Singh Virdi and shall be put up for discussion in the RWM this day. PDG. Rtn. Utpal Majumdar, Rtn. Sukhdev Singh Flora, Rtn. Rathindra Nath Chatterjee and Rtn. Rabindra Nath Dutta could not attend Installation ceremony of the Club due to health related indisposition. We pray for their speedy recovery. Members please note: Our Club is not qualified to issue exemption certificates u/s 80G of the Income Tax Act. In case if, any member or members have any reservation to contribute as per their commitment/ commitments, he/ she/ they may please forward their discontent to the Club President. It is advised that, in such instance, the member or members may make their contributions directly to the concerned beneficiary/ beneficiaries. Installation Meeting of other Clubs attended by Club President R C Calcutta Belur; R C Central Calcutta; R C Calcutta Nabadiganta; R C Garden Reach; FLASH: 1. Rtn. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia has contributed U S $ 200 to the Rotary Foundation India. 2. CAPT. KRISHNENDU DAS inducted as a member of R C Calcutta South City by DG Rtn. Rajani who handed him the Rotary Pin & Kit. His introducer is Rtn. Pradyumna.

Minutes of the 924th Meeting of the Rotary Club of Calcutta South City held on Thursday, 4th July, 2013 at Hotel Senator, 15,Camac Street, Kolkata - 700 017 at 7.00 pm. 1. Meeting called to Order by President. 2. The Club President welcomed the members and Rotaractors to the Meeting. 3. Vishal, Rtr. Jahnavi and Rtr. Ranu. d) Next date of meeting Friday, 19 th July 2013 at Hotel Senator. 4. Discussions on Events/ Projects held: a) President appraised the members that, on 1 st July, Changeover ceremony was held at G D Birla Sabhaghar at 6.45 pm. The District Governor along with the Presidents of Clubs under R I District 3291 took Oath. R I Director Elect from Philipines was the Chief Guest. b) District Directory and Special edition of GML were released on 1 st July, 2013 at the changeover ceremony and the same will be available for members on and from 20 th July, 2013. c) On 29 th July, 2013 District Awards ceremony was held at G D Birla Sabhaghar. Our Club were awarded as follows: (i) First Prize and Rolling Trophy on Literacy Project; (ii) First Prize on Net Membership Growth; (iii)second Prize on Club Bulletin; (iv)second Prize on Overall performance of the Club; (v) Third Prize on Membership Growth; (vi)citations -Rotary International, District Governor; Pulse Polio Committee. d) On 30 th July, 2013 District Governor (2012 13) recognized the services of the following members of our Club: (i) Club President - Rtn. Tapas Kumar Mukherjee; (ii) Club Secretary - Rtn. Pradyumna Choudhury; (iii)assistant Governor & District Publication Chair - Rtn. Chitta Ranjan Ghosh; (iv)zonal Representative, District- Rtn. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia; On behalf of the Club members and himself, President conveys belated wishes to Rtn. Gopal & Anne Aarati & Rtn. Sumit & Anne Namita on their Anniversary that fell on 12 th July, 2013.

5. Discussions on forthcoming Projects: a) President requested Rtn. Kuldip Singh Virdi to help and cooperate with the Governing Body of the Club in respect of Community Projects Medical and Non Medical till such time, the Community Service Director Rtn. Gopal Mahapatra makes himself available for Club services; b) Informed the members that, PDG & Club Trainer, Rtn. Utpal Majumdar has committed to arrange to sponsor the costs and expenses for three nos. child heart surgery during the Rotary year 2013 14. c) Informed the members that, an Eye Camp will be organized along with four other Rotary Clubs under District 3291 and supported by the Priyamvada Birla Eye Foundation at Nopany Vidya Mandir, near Chitpur Beadon Street Crossing at 9.00 am on 7 th July, 2013. d) Rtn. Kuldip Singh Virdi participated in the discussion and informed the members that, the proposed Health Check up Camp at Khalsa High School on 12 th July, 2013 with the support of Ranbaxy Ltd. has to be postponed due to sudden change in examination schedule due to rescheduled Panchayet Elections. e) Participating in the discussion, Rtn. Chitta Ranjan Ghosh, Joint Chairman, Installation Committee requested the members to submit the matters for souvenirs, including advertisements, if any. He appraised the members on the preparations, programmes and estimated expenditures and probable sources of financing such expenditures. f) President appreciated the efforts of the Rotaractors and thanked them for bringing a cake to celebrate the B day of the Charter President of the Club, that fell on that date. Charter President could not attend the meeting due to being indisposed. The Rotaractors and Members cut the cake and joined in the celebrations. g) Club Treasurer requested the members to pay the Club dues and Installation Charges in time; h) Club Secretary read out the Club Statistics as follows: (i) Total strength - 29 (ii) Present this day - 12 (iii)rotaractors present - 03 i) Rtn. Sukhdev Singh Flora to led the National Anthem. j) Meeting was adjourned, there being no other business to transact. OUR PLEDGE: Pay our Dues within time. Honour our commitments. Be respectful to our Rotarian brothers and sisters. Attend the Club meetings regularly and punctually. Donate to The Rotary Foundation to the extent possible. Be visible to the Community through our services, especially the under privileged. Preserve the dignity of Rotary and make it strong and vibrant.
