Banksia Bulletin Thursday 9th October 2014 M T M A R T H A P R I M A R Y S C H O O L Welcome back everyone for Term 4! I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable holiday. I am delighted to be starting as Principal at Mount Martha Primary School this term. I was previously the Principal at Dromana Primary School and look forward to now working with the Mount Martha community. A big thank you to Karen for all her work as the acting Principal last term. I am already learning so much about the school and starting to try to remember everyone s names. I have been visiting grades this week and have been very impressed with the way the students have settled back in to the school routines, their friendships and their learning. This is always a busy term as students complete their school year and we finalise our planning to ensure a smooth start to 2015. This term we have some fantastic events planned. Some highlights include the Year 6 Bike Education Program, whole school Japanese Day, Science Incursions, Prep to 4 Life Education Program and Year 3 camp to Somers. Our Grade 6 s will be graduating and we will be increasingly focussing on our transition program for all our students to build familiarity with next year s learning environment. Transition activities for our 2015 Preps and families are planned to make the start to school next year a little easier. The school is also very fortunate to have an excellent instrumental music program and our students performances at concerts this term will showcase their talents and progress. Students, staff and families will also have much to celebrate as we finish off the year! Please note the dates of our upcoming events as it is easy to miss something in busy Term 4. Look forward to working with you. Martin Page Principal Travel Smart Mt Martha Primary School strives to empower students to be active learners who make a positive impact in a changing world. What a FANTASTIC effort students & families are making with walking, riding & scooting to school!! The reduced traffic on Glenisla Drive at peak times is noticeable and how nice is it to see a "moving" community. The beautiful bunting made by Karen C and her friends is adorning the school fence, Mt Martha House & Kinross St shops to encourage you to let your children walk from these places. Stickers for Walk to School October will be handed out at the gates throughout October. We will also be celebrating the mid point of October with a Coffee Van at Mt Martha House on Friday 17 October from 8am - 9am, so come and purchase a coffee & walk to school!!!!!! Keep Moving!!! The top end of Melrose Drive is not a pick up or drop off area. No parents should be parked in the Staff carpark near the gymnasium at any time of the day. Please do not allow children to enter or exit your vehicle whilst you are stationary on Glenisla Drive, i.e waiting at the crossing etc. This requires children to move between parked vehicles which increases the likelihood of an injury. Thank you for assisting in keeping our school as safe as possible for our students.
