News Letter January 1, to June 30, 2015 02 From the Editor s Desk Ganpat University NEWS @ DECENNIAL YEAR T h e E d i t o r i a l B o a r d f e e l s privileged to come out with the first biannual issue of Ganpat University Newsletter. The Newsletter is mandated to report the activities undertaken at Ganpat University at its various Faculties level through the combination of photos and news glimpses. This will help to showcase the efforts undertaken at the University for enrichment of quality education and overall development of students and the i n s t i t u t i o n, t o i t s v a r i o u s stakeholders. G a n p a t U n i v e r s i t y h a s established various specialized departments with the aim of finetuning the academic curriculum to m e e t t h e e v e r d y n a m i c requirements of the industry and to facilitate knowledge sharing between two. The University also a i m s a t o r g a n i z i n g v a r i o u s c o l l a b o r a t i v e p r o g r a m s t o systematize and catalyze the various joint activities between Industry and the Institute. This is a humble effort to present a l l t h e n e w s, e v e n t s, achievements and efforts to the readers in live and vibrant format of Newsletter. The Ganpat University Editorial Committee invites suggestions and reviews from the readers for the issue of Newsletter. - Editorial Board MIND-GO HAS SIGNED MOU With Ganpat University for Skill Enhancement Activity. NSE SIGNS MOU with ganpat university for degree courses The NSE has signed an MOU with Ganpat University, Gujarat for offering degree level programs to meet the requirement of skilled professionals in the financial sector in the region. An ambitious financial tech city Gujarat International Finance Tec-City or GIFT is under implementation in the state capital Gandhinagar. As per the MoU, initially the programs will be offered for graduate and master degree levels. NSE and the Ganpat University have plan to start other programs like PGDM, Skill Development Programs, Certificate in Financial Literacy etc, among other programs. The first batch is expected to start in the current fiscal. Both the BBA (Capital Markets) and the MBA (Capital Markets) courses will be of 2 years duration. The agreement was signed this week between the two institutes in the university campus. As per the agreement with the University, NSE will provide program material including academics, conduct faculty training, hands on training sessions, and assist in conducting exams etc. while the degree will be issued by the Ganpat University. DASABDI CRICKETOTSAV-2015 DECENNIAL YEAR LECTURE SERIES Shri Bhagyesh Jha, IAS, Chairman, Gujarat Sahitya Parishad delivered an expert session on the occasion and addressed the faculty and students on the topic of Ethics and Education. As part of Decennial Celebration, GNU Sports & Cultural Department has organized the Dasabdi Cricketotsav-2015 for the students of 10th, 11th and 12th standard during the Summer Vacation. In line with the same, the 4th Open Day Night Cricket tournament for college level students and others has been also organized at Ganpat University. Overwhelming response from the participants was perceived. Total 129 teams (School teams 103, and open teams 26) and almost 1935 participants; across the North Gujarat region have been participated. The whole tournament has been planned between 8th May to 10th June, 2015. The media coverage of both the events has been widely published as media partner by the Leading Gujarati Newspaper DivyaBhaskar.

RESEARCH News Letter January 1, to June 30, 2015 03 PAPER Faculty of Computer Application During the academic section January 2015 to June 2015, Faculty of Computer studies has two papers, which are presented at International conference by faculty team of the department and has two papers published in International journal. Faculty of Pharmacy SKPCPER faculty members have published seven Research Papers during 1st January, 15 to 30th June, 15. Among these 6 papers are published in National Level Journals while one had been published in International Level Journal. Faculty of Management Faculty of Management Studies has 24 papers presented at various National and International level Conferences. Faculty has 25 research papers on its credentials which have been published in National and International Journals. Faculty of Engineering and Technology 3 research papers presented at National level conference and 10 papers at international level conferences were presented by the skilled faculty team from Faculty of Engineering and Technology during academic section January 2015 to June 2015. There are 2 and 28 research papers published at various National and International journals from Faculty of Engineering and Technology respectively. RESEARCH GRANT Faculty of Engineering and Technology The research grant of INR 150000 and INR 5000 were senctioned by Ganpat University to conduct the projects titled Continuous Glucose Monitoring and Diabetes Therapy and Monitoring Sleepiness to Prevent Sleep-deprived Traffic Accidents respectively. Faculty of Management Faculty of Management Studies received the research grant of Rs.25,000/- from IIM- Ahmedabad for a seminar on Job applicants Acceptance of Online System for OJAS: Testing the Efficacy of Behavior Prediction Model and Grant of Rs. 20,000/- from GUJCOST for conducting a workshop on Advance Data Analysis Techniques in Management. BOOKS/ BOOKS CHAPTER Faculty of Engineering and Technology Faculty of Engineering and Technology has two books published by their faculties. Prof Nikhil Kumar Singh from CE & IT department has published the book titled Detection of Privilege Abuse in RBAC Administered Database from Springer publication house with ISBN: 978-3-319-14654-6.From Marine department, Prof M. A. Patel published a Laboratory Manual for Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machines from Neerav Prakashan. CONSULTANCY Faculty of Engineering and Technology The consultancy projects worth INR 179000/- was received by Department of Electrical engineering from Kalptaru Power Transmission Ltd., while the consultancy project from Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) was handled by Faculty of Engineering and Technology which had the value of INR 40,000/-. PH.D. DEGREE AWARD Ganpat University focuses and encourages the research based learning under various departments. All the Faculties provide various specializations for under taking the Doctoral degree. This year Two candidates from Faculty of Education, One research scholar from Faculty of Pharmacy, Two faculties from Faculty of Engineering & Technology and another One scholar from Faculty of Management were awarded the degree of Doctorate for outstanding work in their areas of research.

These are the factors which requires continues progressive approach. Ganpat University encourages all the departments to organize various Training programs and workshops on continues basis on emerging trends, technology and issues. FACULTY OF COMPUTER APPLICATION Faculty of Computer Application had organized short term training program on Computational Methods in Engineering Using MATLAB during 20-24th April, 2015 sponsored by Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) under the co-ordination of Dr. J. M. Patel. Faculty of computer Application had organized 8 different workshops for Bachelor and Master Degree students for more than 70 days. These workshops are like: M.V.C. 4, Mobile Apps Development, IT C & CPP Talk to a Teacher Project at IIT Bombay -National Mission on Education through ICT, JAVA Talk To A Teacher project at IIT Bombay -National Mission on Education through ICT, PHP & MYSQL Talk To A Teacher project at IIT Bombay -National Mission on Education through ICT and Microsoft Imagine Digital India Summit-2015. FACULTY OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY Department of Bio-Medical & Instrumentation Engineering organized a One day workshop on Hospital Management and Information System. Total 68 participants have benefited from the workshop. Department of Computer Engineering and Information Technology organized a Five days Android Application Development Program sponsored by GUJCOST with total funded amount is Rs. 50000/-. They also organized a One week workshop on Introduction to Design of Algorithms sponsored by MHRD. This workshop was conducted by experts from IIT Khargapur (Remote Centre) for the faculties. Another One day workshops on Smart Device Repairing, Unity 3D Asp. Net technology were organized by Department of Computer Engineering and Information Technology for knowledge up gradation and enhancement of the students. Department of Master of Computer Application organized a Two days workshop on Project Development Techniques. More than 250 students have participated in the workshop. Department of Electrical Engineering organized a two days National Seminar on Micro-Grid: Current Scenario, Future Perspective & Challenges sponsored by GUJCOST, which received an enriched participation of 36 faculties. Department of Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering organized another two days Workshop on Computer Aided Designing For Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Department of Civil Engineering organized a 15 days workshop on Environmental Studies sponsored by MHRD and workshop is conducted by IIT-Bombay (Remote Centre). MHRD funded Rs. 1,00,000/- to conduct the workshop. Total 26 faculty members have participated in the workshop. Department of Computer Science & Engineering organized a five days Faculty Development Program and a one day workshop on The Spark Up Idea Fund Program. Department of Marine Engineering have organized 3 days Workshop on Ship Modelling and more than 40 students have participated in the workshop. Department of Electronics & Communication have organized 1 day seminar on Career Advancement.

News Letter January 1, to June 30, 2015 05 TRAINING PROGRAMME ORGANIZED FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT Centre for Management Studies and Centre for Media Entertainment and Communication, Ahmedabad organized 12th National level Syposium on 11th March, 2015 on the Trends & Tactics of Business Development. The symposium aimed to understand, formulate and evaluate various strategies for sustainable growth. The event was graced by many eminent personalities from the industry as well as academia who imparted the practical knowledge of the trends and tactics for concerned industry as well as the opportunities in the respective sector in new business development. The inaugural ceremony had distinguished guest like Dr. Mahendra Sharma, Director Ganpat University, and Mr. R. K. Gupta chief guest of the event, Former Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax. The event started with the key note speech by Mr. R.K. Gupta on taxation system in India and its implication on business development model. Apart from that the symposium had covered these three topics and its importance for business development: Impact of GST on Business development session chaired by Mr. Tarang Kothari, Dr. Falguni Vasavada took expert session on Digital Marketing in Business Expansion and Dr. Rasananda Panda enlighted audience on Use of analytical tools in business forecasting. It was a proud moment for CMS and CMEC to have Shri Ganaptbhai Patel honorable Patron in Chief, Ganpat University and Shri Anilbhai Patel as Chancellor, Ganpat University remained present during the sessions and interacted with the students by their thought provoking speech on Business development. They also shared their own professional experiences with students. Apart from this, FMS also organized a series of One day workshops on Body Language, Workplace grooming, Attitude as a key to Success and SPSS applications to strengthen and shape up the professional skills of the students at VMPCMS. FACULTY OF COMPUTER APPLICATION Various dignitaries from IT industry like Mr. Nitin Shah (Director) & Mr. Jignesh patel (Associate Director) i-gate Patni, Mr. Aditya Mohan(Business Head) & Mr. Prabhjot Bakshi (Leading Head) Microsoft Training Department, Mr. Mitul Dadhania (CEO) - delivered session on Career in Digital Media Marketing Web Chanakya,Ms. Rekha Totlani(Strategic HR - Manager), Mr. Nirav Modi (Project Manager - AX) & Ms.Rhutvika Joshi (Functional Consultant - AX) Seminar on ERP Awareness MindQuad, Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Mantvya Gajjar (TINY ERP Infocity, Gandhinagar) visited various department of computer Applications. Students of computer Applications have visited many IT compies like Lets Nurture (Ahmedabad), Serpent Technologies (Gandhinagar), Gujarat Technologies (Ahmedabad), Carsons Overseas (Agra), Dawar Industries (Agra), Gupta HC Overseas (Agra) & Tiny ERP (Infocity, Gandhinagar). Academic Innovation Industry Interface Academic learning becomes more fruitful when it gets integrated with industrial interface and interactions. All the departments of Ganpat University keep this aim in front and take a range of initiatives by signing MoUs, inviting experts from the industry and organizing industrial visits. Educational Trip 2015 AWARDS eitra and Ganpat University won Diamond Award by GESIA, the 8th annual award 2015 for the Best Industry-Academia Initiative.

News Letter January 1, to June 30, 2015 06 Academic Innovation Industry Interface FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT Industrial Visit Industrial visit is a part of the management course, during which students visit companies and get insight on the internal working environment of the company. The industrial visit also provides an insight on how companies work and information related to the practical aspects of the course which cannot be visualized in regular classroom sessions. As routine academic process of Centre for Management Studies has organized Industrial tour to Nashik for the Semester IV students of MBA (Pharmaceuticals, Financial Services, Agri-Business, International Business, Retail Management, Marketing Management and Media & Entertainment Management) on 7-11 January, 2015. The students visited Kaytross ACG Life Sciences Ltd - A pharmaceutical formulation manufacturing company with wide range of formulation in TABLET, CAPSULE and LIQUID ORAL DOSAGE forms and Supplier and manufacturer of allopathic medicines, pain killer, anti allergic, anti biotic, vitamins. The visit at Varun Agro Processing Foods Pvt. Ltd (an ISO 22000-HACCP-FSSC 22000 certified company)- one of the reputed Manufactures, Suppliers and Exporters of high quality Fruit Pulp and Tomato Paste was a very practical and interesting experience for the students. The students also explored York Winery, which is designed on multiple levels of production right from the grape receival, crushing, red winemaking, white winemaking, barrel cellar, bottling to storage in a streamlined fashion. The visit was also organized at Vishwas Cooperative Bank that has attained an important status in the co-operative banking sector, by c r o s s i n g v a r i o u s milestones of quality and standards and by setting new standards of its own. The bank h a s a t t a i n e d a n envious position in the co-operative banking field. The students of CMS visited, Radio Vishwas 90.8 is a powerful medium that gives a voice to the voiceless, s e r v e s a s t h e mouthpiece of the marginalized and is at t h e h e a r t o f communication and democratic processes w i t h i n s o c i e t i e s. Faculty of Science Science Week During 23rd February, 2015 to 28th February, 2015, Science Week had been celebrated in the Institute. The National Science Day is celebrated every year in the honour of the great Indian scientist Sir C. V. Raman on 28th February. The theme of the Science Day as declared by the Department of Science and Technology this year had been Science for Nation Building. Throughout the week, different events on the theme had been organized which include Preparation and Demonstration of Scientific Model, Poster Competition, Essay Competition, Slogan Competition, Intra Class Competitions for Developing an Innovative Idea which may change our Nation, Elocution Competition, Speech on a Scientific Event or Invention, Science Drama, etc. Deep interest had been shown by the students in the Science Week Celebration and they had taken part in it in a mass. V.M. Patel College of Management Studies, Faculty of Management Studies became University champion in the Boys Kabbadi match, while in Girls Kabbadi match college remained 1st runner up in the Inter College Tournament held by Ganpat University. The sports activity in the college had been organized in two phases. First phase had been organized in the month of AugustSeptember, 2014 while second phase was organized in February, 2015. The sports-persons of SKPCPER have been consistently performing well since the inception of the college in the sport events like volley ball football, cricket, chess, carom, table tennis and badminton etc. Coaching, training and fitness centre are also working in University campus to provide guidance in sports. The teams participated at various levels like inter-college competitions organized by University Sports Department. The college has celebrated Sport Week from 16th to 18th March 2015. In the interclass programme, more than 100 students were participated in sport competitions at various levels all over the country. Various sports in which the students participated are as follows: volley ball, football, cricket, chess, carom, table tennis and badminton (Men & Women). Various open and invitational tournaments in which the students participated other than the intercollege and inter-university competitions of Ganpat University.
