Robert Hunter PTO Monthly Newsletter January/February 2014 13/14 Issue 5 Save the Dates Dear Robert Hunter Families, Well 2014 has been off to a cold and snowy start! It is hard to remember a winter season like this one! That being said, the PTO has planned a full schedule of exciting events for RH students and families during February including Family Movie Night, Valentine s Wind Symphony Concert and Family Olympics Night. For Family Olympics Night, scheduled for February 21, the Robert Hunter Staff is planning many exciting games as Robert Hunter Families compete for a top three finish. The PTO would like to thank Mrs. Tiffany Cinquemani for organizing Family Olympics as well as the many teachers and staff members who will participate including; Mrs. Rainey, Mrs. Carr, Mrs. Hansen, Mrs. Ewing, Mrs. McPeek, Mrs. DeAngelis, Mrs. Hoppe, Miss. We will hold movie night in the school cafeteria. Please bring your pillows and blankets and join in the fun. The PTO will serve free popcorn and water to all who attend! Hope to see many families at movie night! Valentine s Wind Symphony Concert, February 11 th 7:00-8:30 PM Join us for a free Valentine s themed Children s concert performed by the Whitehouse Wind Symphony on Tuesday, February 11th, at 7:00 PM. There be a brass quintet playing from 7:00-7:30 with a dessert concession available in the cafeteria. The concert will follow from 7:30-8:15 PM in the school gym. Robert Hunter PTO Newsletter January/February 2014 Page 3 RH Family Olympics, Friday, February 21 st, 6:30 PM Join us for Family Olympics Night on Friday, February 21. The Games start at 6:30 PM sharp. This event is generously organized and run by the RH Staff, led by Mrs. Tiffany Cinquemani. The teachers will host many fun games with trophies being awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place families. All participating families receive event ribbons. The teachers will also run a concession stand and will sell 50-50 tickets with the winning ticket to be announced during the trophy ceremony. The registration fee for Olympic Night is $10 per family by February 13th. The registration form is available on Virtual Backpack and the PTO Website. Note: the registration fee increases to $15 after February 13th. Come out and show your Olympic and competitive spirit! Spring Enrichment Program, March - May 2014 The PTO is planning a full schedule of After School Enrichment Classes for RH students. The class schedule and registration form will be distributed the week of February 10th. Classes include: Board Games, Computer Explorers Green Screen, Gymnastics, irun4life, Girls on the Run, Keyboard Club and many more. Look for the program flyers next week! We hope your children enjoy the Spring selection of classes! Thank you! Reminders to Parents and Students Robert Hunter Spirit Wear Day is held the first Friday of each month! Please wear your Robert Hunter Shirts! The third Friday of each month are various themed dress-up days, such as Wear Red Day scheduled for February 21st. Students are requested to donate a $1.00 on these days to support the PTO and school. The February Dine Out event is scheduled for Wednesday, February 26th at Capuano Risto- rante Italiano located at 67 Church Street. Capuano will give 10% of your check to Robert Hunter PTO. Thank you for supporting the Dine Out Event! Save the Date: April 4th 6:00 PM for the PTO Annual Basket Auction! Page 4 Robert Hunter PTO Monthly Newsletter Program Updates and Thank you! During February, Mrs. Paula Benke will be organizing Art Goes to School for all RH Classes. PTO Parents visit classrooms and present and discuss classic art works with RH Students! This is sure to a fun and exciting program for our students, once again. If you are interested in volunteering for this program, please contact Paula at misspauleeb@yahoo.com. Thanks! Thank you to Mrs. Christine Kilcomons and Mrs. Jen Evans for taking pictures for the PTO this year and for preparing the 2013-2014 Robert Hunter yearbook. The yearbook orders will be on sale during February! A sales flyer will be distributed to all RH Students in the coming weeks. Thank you to Mrs. Elli Kuras for managing the PTO Facebook Page. The PTO is trying to use Facebook to more effectively communicate with PTO members on a regular basis. If you have not liked us on Facebook, please do! With many PTO events planned this spring, Facebook will be the best way to stay connected to RH PTO! Thanks to Mrs. Jennifer Marino, Ms. Debbie Glanzmann and Mrs. Kristi Gano for offering Game Time to RH Students during January and February. This enrichment program was well attended by 30 RH students enjoying a variety of gym games! Thanks to Mrs. Elana Korn for organizing the December Dine Out event at Teaberry s, the special Occasions shopping event supporting the PTO during December and the January Dine Out event at Dockside. Thanks to all RH families who participated in these events! Thank you to all RH Homeroom Parents and participating Parents for organizing class holiday celebrations in December! The PTO visited many class parties where the students were enjoying crafts and healthy snacks before the winter break! The PTO appreciates the support RH Families give to the Homeroom Parents! Thanks to Mrs. Tracy Jenkinson for teaching Computer Explorers Claymation at RH School on Mondays and Wednesday during the Winter Enrichment schedule. Thanks to the Basket Auction Solicitation Committee members; Mrs. Susan Tourville, Mrs. Valerie Bart, Mrs. Kim Tilly, Mrs. Kristi Gano, Mrs. Tracy Jenkinson, Mrs. Robyn Fatooh, Mrs. Kari Allen, Mrs. Catherine Adams, Mrs. Joanna Lentine, Mrs. Stephanie Mraz, Mrs. Elana Korn, Mrs. Sandy Ghanim, Mrs. Ashley Colantuono, Mrs. Tiffany Cinquemani and Mr. Tim Bart. The Solicitation Committee has been hard at work since November soliciting donations for the April 4th Basket Auction! Thank you! The PTO would like to thank Mr. Bob Jones and Mr. Richard Sawicki for Co-Chairing this event as well as many Volunteer Dads; Mr. Sean Cook, Mr. Harry Gano, Mr. Henry Jenkinson, Mr. John Colantuono, Mr. Andrezj Imiolek, Mr. John Hilke, Mr. Michael Owen, Mr. Martin Allen, Mr. David Miller, Mr. Paul Morano, Mr. Henry Abbott, Mr. Nick Novello, Mr. Christian Hunter and Mr. Tim Bart. The PTO would also like to thank Mrs. Kristi Gano, Mrs. Denise Sawicki and Mrs. Valerie Bart for behind the scenes support to Game Night. As well, thank you to all RH families who donated baked goods and items to the Game Night Concession! Thanks to Tina s Pizza and the Tina Family for once again supporting a PTO Concession! Special thanks to Mrs. Jennifer Marino for helping organize Twister, Basketball and Mini-Golf in the gym! And Special thanks to Mrs. Tracy Jenkinson for providing the Green Screen picture station at the event. The Game Night Pictures were awesome! Thanks to all who attended! The winning class for the label collection drive is Mrs. Kelliher s Class. This class will enjoy an extra recess period as the class prize for leading the label collection drive. Thank you to Mrs. Rebecca Kwiatek for organizing the label drive for Robert Hunter School! Basket Auction needs...the PTO will be collecting unused baskets and interesting, reusable packing material to assemble baskets for the auction. Donations can be dropped off at the school main office with the school secretaries. In addition, if your family would like to donate any items for the auction, please contact Mr. Tim Bart, Event Co Chair, by March 1st.
