Welcome! Welcome to STEAM Academy! This program is formally known as the Wednesday Enrichment Program, but will still offer the same great benefits and fun! What exactly is STEAM? STEAM is an acronym for Science/Sports, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. The idea of emphasizing these subjects within this program has been driven by the business community, with the goal of preparing an agile and competitive workforce. However, the benefits from these classes will be seen in the classroom through improved self-esteem, improved social skills, an increase interest in school, and an increase in academic performance. STEAM education provides the underpinnings for every child to be successful in college, work, and life. Children who complete one class offered in at least four different areas of STEAM will receive a ribbon of completion. Cut out the page below for your academy card, and be sure to write in the classes and session to receive your prize during Session IV. We hope you consider some of the class offerings this year! Name: What was the class name? What session did you complete it in? Once you complete one class offered in at least four different areas, please submit to the Recreation Center at 650 Shell Blvd. 3
