Pre study group survey October 25, 2017-Interactive Read-Aloud and Literature Discussion: Explore the structure of interactive reading components: selection, opening, reading aloud, embedded teaching, text talk, discussion, selfevaluation, record of reading and written or artistic response November 8, 2017- Taking a closer look at Journey s Resources. Review the characteristics of shared and performance reading and the basic components: Introduction, modeled reading, reading text together, discussion, teaching for strategic action, repeated readings, independent reading, extended language and literacy opportunities January 17, 2018- Writing about reading- Topics: Modeled, Shared, Interactive, Independent and Functional Writing April 9, 2018- Oral and Visual Communication: Teaching listening and speaking common core standards and noting new reading behaviors at grade levels. Teacher discussion will consist of instructional plans, presenting and collecting instructional ideas.
