Reading EOG in grades 3-5 and STAR Reading in 2-5 is less than 20% proficient. Compliance Statements 1. Describe your plan to provide duty-free lunch to all teachers - Create a rotation within the grade level. Each teacher will have one day a week duty free lunch provided by the TA. 2. Describe your plan to provide planning time for each regular classroom teacher each week, with the goal of 5 hours per week. We have designed our specials schedules to accomodate these needs. 3. Physical activity is not denied to any students as a means of discipline, nor physical activity used as a form of punishment (K-8 only). We are in compliance. 4. Each student participates in an average of 30 minutes per day of physical activity outside of the physical education class (K -8 only). We are in compliance.
Title I Statewide Project Summary: Needs Assessment Provide an explanation of the Comprehensive Needs Assessment which reflects statutory requirements. Schools must address particularly the needs of lowachieving children and those at risk of not meeting state student achievementstandards. Refer to the SIP profile or plan for any of these items (note page numbers). Important note: Components 1-9 on the Title I Compliance Statements of the School Improvement Plan must refer to this needs assessment. 1. Summary of Comprehensive needs - Reading: Kindergarten - During the first nine week we will focus on letter recognition. We will measure this by utilzing the LNF assessment in MClass. First Grade - During the first nine we weeks we will focus on phoneme segmentation. We will measure this by utilizing the PSF assessment in MClass. Second Grade - During the first nine we weeks we will focus on NonSense word fluency. We will measure this by utilizing the NWF assessment in MClass. Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade - During the first nine we weeks we will focus on Oral Reading fluency. We will measure this by utilizing the DORF assessment in MClass. All grade levels will be utilizing the TRC component of MClass as well to find their baseline and form a realistic goal for the end of the first nine weeks. We will look at the student achievement scores from 2013/2014 when the data is released and will add it in after September 4th. Math - Kindergarten and First grade will work on base ten operations for the first nine weeks. First grade will also work on reviewing rote counting due to the deficit that we saw on the kindergarten marks anlysis. We will use a common assessment, investigations, and the DPI units provided by the county to assess the students progress. Second grade will work on place value for the first nine weeks. We wil use star math and common assessments to track progress. Third grade will work on place value, understanding and properties of operations to add and subtract for the first nine weeks. We will use star math and common assessments to track progress. Fourth grade will begin by going over multiplication and will work on number operations and base ten. 4th and 5th grade will review end of the year data from 2013/2014 and make goals after reviewing that data. 2. Schoolwide reform strategies - 1. Continuation of implementaion of common core k-5 2. Continued staff development of reading and writing workshop k-5 3. Balanced Active Math continued in k-5 4. Instructional facilitator work with all grade levels on creating common assessments and data analysis weekly, supporting teachers with MTSS 5. TAs in all grade levels 3. High Quality and Ongoing Professional Development - Reading and writing workshop training and refreshers, vertical planning, ongoing PBIS and MTSS training 5. Strategies to attract high quality teachers to high needs schools - We will provide opportunities to share in the decision making process, collaborative planning time, administrative support, special staff recognitions and celebrations, and teacher driven professional development 6. Strategies to increase parent involvement - We will plan to have a reading and math afternoon where the parents will come in and participate in the lesson and see how their child learns in the classroom. We also plan to implement family fun nights with an academic focus. We will have a parent involvement specialist that will provide parents with surveys and direct communication for parents to express their needs as it relates to dates and times for activities that are convenient for them. With the help of our parent involvement specialist, parents will be provided with opportunities to volunteer within the school. 7. Preschool transition strategies - Pre-K programs housed in and out of Rhyne, have kindergarten visiting days to assist them and their parents with the transition to kindergarten. 8. Including teachers in decisions regarding the use of assessment - Teachers are continuously required to analyze all classroom assessment data including common formative assessments, k-2 report card data, benchmark data, DIBELS data, star reading and math data. This data is used to group students for reading and math within classrooms and among the grade level to remediate and accelerate.
9. Activities for children experiencing difficulty - Students who experience difficulty will be provided with additional assistance during the instructional day. Exceptional students will receive services through the EC program. Students with mental health difficulties will also benefit from our in house mental health therapist. We will hire TAs for each grade level to help with targeted interventions. The MTSS model has been implemented to address the needs of struggling students. Rhyne Elementary utilizes out literacy teacher to focus primarily on first and second grade students who are performing below grade level in reading. Instruction is differentiated daily based on each students needs by the classroom teacher. Resources such as the Florida Center for Reading Research and MCLASS "Now What" tools are used to target students reading deficencies.
