In 2015, the club received a Rotary Presidential Citation Award for their commitment to making a positive difference in the community. This year the Interact Club went over and beyond our usual accomplishments. We held a collection within our club for pet supplies that were needed for the New Fairfield/Sherman Animal Welfare Society. We even raised enough money to participate in their adopt a kennel campaign. Once a month we receive updates about the various dogs that the shelter houses. Recently, we also hosted the 5th Annual Ryan s Foundation Dodgeball Tournament and donated $1,000 to the organization. Club members volunteered at the Ty Louis Campbell Foundation Holiday Festival. At this event we had a table that sold various holiday-themed cards that were made by our own Interact Club members, and did crafts with the kids that were there. Our club is sending volunteers to the Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley to cook meals for families that have children staying in the hospital. We are also currently working on our Annual Pancake Breakfast with the proceeds going to the Astor Services for Children and Families this year. DUTCHER GOLF COURSE Address: 135 East Main Street Phone : 845-855-9845 Course Open Daily: 7am Dusk April November 2016 The Town of Pawling has long been considered The Pride of the Harlem Valley for many reasons. Having the oldest municipally-owned golf course in the country has provided us with added notoriety outside of our boundaries. This well-maintained 42 acre course originated as a 3-hole course in 1885 by Mr. Dutcher, for the benefit of his friends. It was expanded to a 9-hole course in 1890 and has flourished from that point forward. To this day the par 34 course offers majestic views of the Harlem Valley along with historic stone walls from the centuries old farm land. With a second set of offset tee boxes that give players a different course layout, the Dutcher allows golfers of all skill levels to play a full round of eighteen holes at much lower rates than surrounding courses. The Dutcher is also a great course to introduce new people to the sport. Because of its small size and limited hazards, new players will take to the sport without experiencing the frustrations associated with larger, more challenging courses. Combined with the beauty and ease of the course are the helpful staff to assist you in getting out on the course in a timely manner. I encourage my friends and neighbors to dust off their clubs, pick up a friend, and head to the Dutcher for a round of golf. I ll see you there. Sincerely, David P.
