All items mentioned are available from the school shop. Each pupil will be allocated three pegs in the cloakroom in addition to a wire basket under a bench below the pegs. Three sports bags, one regulation navy holdall for games kit, one regulation maroon drawstring for gym/dance kit and one regulation red drawstring for swimming kit will be needed. We strongly recommend the purchase of the navy school satchel. This is compulsory for Yr3 and Yr4 pupils, and is stocked by the school shop. This is suitable for the carrying of books and we believe that a satchel and separate sports bags will be a manageable and tidy solution to the problem of having a variety of items to remember. We would like to stress the great importance of having your daughter s possessions clearly labelled so that any item which goes astray can be quickly returned to its owner. Please also note that your daughter will not be able to lock away her possessions so it is sensible to leave any items of value, including jewellery, at home. It can be very distressing for everyone on the rare occasions such belongings are found to be missing. We would much prefer to avoid this eventuality.

Dress Regulations additional information: Staff Handbook 4.12 A neat and tidy appearance is expected at all times School uniform of a suitable size and fit must be worn. Mufti may be worn when specified but should never be mixed with school uniform. Mufti days are still days for learning and the home clothes worn should be conducive for learning: no flip-flops or opentoed sandals; short shorts or skirts; low-cut tops or T-Shirts with slogans which may offend. Hair should be well-groomed and tied back from the face with navy or black scrunchies or bands. Sixth formers may wear their hair down as long as it is tidy. These regulations also apply on mufti days. No obvious make-up or hair colouring is allowed with uniform. Pupils whose hair is obviously dyed or an unnatural colour will be asked to dye their hair a natural tone. When coats and scarves are worn these must be school regulation. Sixth Formers may wear a smart, dark, tailored coat of their choice. Pupils are expected to wear smart school uniform coming to and going home from school. They represent the school at these times and anyone arriving at school dressed in such a way that lets them and the school down will be sent to their Head of Year. Likewise anyone seen in Monmouth after school hours wearing their uniform in an inappropriate manner can expect to be challenged on return to school. Pupils may wear one pair of earrings (sleeper studs) in the lobe and no earrings in any other part of the ear (or any other piercings). A signet ring is allowed, as is a neck chain but all other jewelry is not allowed. The Head of Year will adjudge as to whether a school rule is being broken. Trouser Uniform At Monmouth School for Girls, we aim to ensure that suitable provision is offered for a pupil who wants to make a thoughtful and considered choice about the clothes worn at school in relation to their religions, lifestyle or gender identity. A pupil who feels more comfortable in the trouser uniform may choose to wear it. This choice is made with parental consent and with the Headmistress s approval. This would usually be discussed on joining the school. If, however, a pupil decides, for reason of religion, lifestyle or gender identity, that they would like to wear the trouser uniform, then the process to go through in order to seek the Headmistress s approval is as follows: Pupil conversation with Houseparent, Head of Year or Tutor; Pupil conversation with Houseparent or Head of Year and the Deputy Head, to outline the next steps; Parental conversation with the Deputy Head Written request from parent to the Headmistress
