Meet the Team (Department of Sport) The department is responsible for the development and administration of an extensive programme of sporting competitions and opportunities exclusively for UEA students and staff. This includes club sport, BUCS, intra-mural and social leagues, ueactive, the Elite Scholarship programme and employment and volunteering opportunities with National Governing Bodies. For all general student sport enquires please contact: studentsport@uea.ac.uk Welcome to Sport is an integral part of community life at UEA for students and staff alike. As we look forward to another exciting year within, we can t help thinking back to the end of last year and our phenomenal result being awarded the BUCS Participation Programme of the Year! What an accolade! We pride ourselves on being able to provide such a wide-ranging programme of sporting, recreational and health-promoting activities and this year will be no different. To add to this already comprehensive offer we are aiming to branch out even further with our exciting new sports scholarship programme and an inclusive ueaccess focus. Much more to follow.. Whether you are with us for the first time, or are our returning students at UEA, we hope you take full advantage of the fantastic array of facilities available. Whether that be our state of the art Sportspark, our Colney Lane playing field site or some of the incredible community facilities we make use of across the county. I am sure you will find a class, course, club or level of competition to suit you. If there is still something more you d like to see, or if gaining employment and volunteering experience is top of your agenda, please come and talk to us. The office is just through the main entrance to the Sportspark and our door is always open. UEA has continued to be the only University that has been in the top 5 for student overall satisfaction (NSS) amongst English mainstream universities. UEA has occupied the top five of the NSS ever since the survey started in 2005, and no other university has topped that. To cap it all, UEA achieved Gold in the recent Teaching Excellence Framework rankings. So this is clearly a phenomenal university to study at, but not only has UEA been noted for its excellence in sporting programmes but for the last 5 years, the quality of UEA s sporting facilities have also been judged to be in the top 6 nationally (THE)! There is so much to offer from your time at UEA, we hope that we can play our part in making it a most memorable time. Welcome to, and welcome back to, UEA!
