Transformative Education Website Interactive Map & Case studies Submission Instructions and Agreement http://whoeducationguidelines.org/case-studies/
2 Background What is transformative education? Transformative scale-up is a process of sustainable education system and health systems reform that addresses the quantity, quality and relevance of health workers in order to increase access to health service and to improve population health outcomes. It aims to support and advance the performance of country health systems so as to meet the needs of individuals and populations in an equitable and efficient manner. In November 2013, the WHO published its guidelines on Transforming and Scaling Up Health Professional Education and Training as part of a broader strategy to improve the quality of health professional education. Furthermore, in order to implement the provisions of the World Health Assembly Resolution 66.23 entitled Transforming Health Workforce Education in Support of Universal Health Coverage, WHO has also established a technical working group to develop a health workforce assessment tool and also a web platform for its work on transformative health workforce education (www.whoeducationguidelines.org). Posting a case study for the WHO Transformative Education interactive map What is a case study? A case study is an account of an activity, event or problem that contains a real situation and highlights the complexities that you would encounter in the workplace or project implementation. Case studies are used to help you see how the complexities of real life influence decisions, learn from and share your experiences and support continuous improvement. On the WHO transformative education website we have also included options to include your social media sites, voting and commenting by other registered users. Our aim is to establish a global resource to i. document country experiences and examples of transformative education, ii. highlight examples of good / best practice and facilitate and empower the sharing and exchange as well as networking. Case studies on the WHO TE website interactive map contribute to WHO technical support to Member States in formulating and implementing evidence-based policies and strategies in order to strengthen and transform their health workforce education in support of universal health coverage.
