Project of the Month: Biography For February and into March we will be working on reading a biography, taking notes, giving a speech in first person, designing a biography poster and finally taking part in a wax museum performance. Information on this project should come home with your child and will be posted on my website. Additional information on the wax museum will come home closer to the performance date in March. I will be breaking this project into steps in class and helping walk the students through the process. I will not be giving all the information and supplies needed right away, as that can be overwhelming for many. You can help them by reminding them to bring their biography to school to read each day. In class I will also be giving them their poster and modeling the project steps for them. Project focus for the week of Feb 8th-12 th : We will be reading our biographies, taking notes and beginning the poster (handed out in class this week). We are hoping to have finished reading the biographies by Friday! In class I will demonstrate the speech writing process and students should begin writing their speech on note cards and practicing it. Mark your CALENDAR Friday, March 4th will be the Famous 5 th Grade Wax Museum afternoon time more details will come home next week! Reading Logs Over the past month many students are forgetting to complete and hand in their reading logs. Many students are missing two or three weeks in a row. Reading logs are a portion of their reading grade and help me to grade part of their independent reading. Please help to remind your child to fill out, have signed and hand in their reading logs every Friday. Thank you for your help with this. Bring in $1.00 and wear pink or red on Friday, February 12th for Valentine s Day! All monies raised will be donated to the Episcopal Homes
