It is imperative that our students take advantage of these opportunities!! 1. All students scoring an 80 or less are given the opportunity to relearn and recover on summative assessments only. (The maximum score that will be recorded in the grade book is an 80 on a retest.) 2. Student must have ALL formative assessments in a unit completed prior to the original summative assessment for that unit. 3. The retake must be taken within 7 (seven) days of the date that the assessment grade was handed back. 4. Student must attend relearning sessions for remediation on the material covered on the assessment. The # of tutoring sessions needed is determined by the teacher and may vary. 5. A different assessment will be given. When tasks or assessments are completed for a second time, they may be reassigned partially (addressing the standard or standards re-taught), entirely (new test covering all standards addressed on the original assessment), or in a different format (essay on the standard, teacher interview, project, etc.), as determined by the teacher.
Page 2 of 6 Emergency School Closing 6. The 9, 18, 27, & 36 week assessments will not be available for relearn and recovery. Business Partners A huge Thank You to our awesome OMS Business Partners! Stay Connected Students are not afforded endless opportunities for test retakes. Teachers will use their professional judgment to determine if a student has mastered enough of the standards to be successful on the next section of learning. Click here for Yearbook Order Form OMS Title I Program The OMS Title I Reading and Math Program would like to give a big THANK YOU to Mr. Sloop, OMS Head of Technology, for his 'ANGEL for Parents' presentation during the October 13, 2011 Parents' Meeting. Mr. Sloop used laptops to help the parents learn about and to experience navigating through ANGEL. Parents were amazed at the wealth of material available from the childrens' teachers and at how much they, as parents, could learn about what their children were learning and doing in class. It was suggested that Mr. Sloop conduct a computer class for the parents and that is scheduled, tentatively, for January and February of 2012. So, please keep checking the Bullpup and the Title I website at www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/oms/site/default.asp under Student and Academic Support for further news about the course. *Mrs. Tribble, AP and Title I Administrator, helped parents to understand the R.T.I. system of student intervention to improve student success, the meaning of 'highly qualified teachers' and the parents' 'Complaint Procedure' for OMS. *Updates on the COMPUTER+MATH Classes (which have been completed) and the Homework Help program on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8am to 9am were provided by Mrs. Luthart (7th & 8th grade Math) and Mr. Holbrook (6th & 7th grade Math). *We were very happy to see so many parents and children at the meeting and are looking forward to seeing even more of the OMS Title I parents and students at the November meeting. NOTE: The date of the November Parents' Meeting has been changed to NOVEMBER 30, 2011 (Wednesday). - places and times remain the same. Parents, THANK YOU for your continued support of your Title I student and for the OMS Title I Program. Media Center News
