Administration has transferred the following employees: Bobbie Scott from ESL Teacher at Yadkinville Elementary School to Lead ESL Teacher at Yadkinville Elementary School. James Vestal from Temporary Custodian at Forbush High School to Permanent Custodian at Forbush High School. Steve King from Grounds Keeper I at Forbush High School to Custodian Supervisor at Forbush High School. Stephanie Gray from Temporary Teacher Assistant at West Yadkin Elementary to part-time clerical at Forbush Elementary. 4

Brown, the Board moved that the Drug Addition Policy 4325 Drugs and Alcohol be moved to an action item. Action item: #10-124 On motion by Hampton, seconded by Baity, the Board approved the Drug and Drug and Alochol Policy 4325 Drugs and Alcohol as presented. Alcohol Policy: 4. Bonnie Cook gave an update to the Board regarding High School Financial Aid Meetings. Dr. Cook informed the Board that Forbush High School held a financial aid meeting assisted by CFNC on November 18, 2010 and Starmount High School has a financial aid meeting scheduled for December 6, 2010. Diane Hampton asked if Yadkin Early College was involved in the meetings and Dr. Cook advised the Board that they are involved with helping students. 5. Bonnie Cook discussed with the Board the Career Fair that has been scheduled for 10 th grade students. The Career Fair will be held at the Yadkin County YMCA on Friday, February 19, 2011 from 8:30a.m. 11:30a.m. The snow date is Friday, February 25, 2011. The Board asked that the 10 th grade sophomores be surveyed to see what career interests they have. 6. Mark Rumley advised the Board that we are continuing to work with Mt. Airy Schools to schedule an Ipod presentation. Dr. Rumley asked if Board members would be available January 11, 2011 and the Board agreed they were available on this date as long as the meeting was scheduled to begin no earlier than 4:30p.m. 7. The Board reviewed contracts/purchases. 8. The Board reviewed the December Schedule of Activities. Board Comments Emily Winslow thanked Dr. Nichols and Mr. Stewart for being at the Board meeting. Emily also stated that at Forbush they have started back with schedule from last year having A/E everyday and this has helped a lot of students be able to get homework completed because of the heavy load. Emily also thanked the Board for having the cheerleaders at the next Board meeting. 5

Stephen Walker apologized for being late but he had to get two kids dressed and fed. He also stated he was disappointed that we were halfway through year he stated he has mixed emotions about being a senior. Paul Rogers stated that he had worked at the United Methodist pancake breakfast and Virginia Foxx came to eat and he was able to get a personal picture. He also stated that he was excited that national recognition came to Yadkin County and that this was an unexpected bonus. Paul also informed the Board that he had been working with kindergarteners at Yadkinville Elementary School and that it had been great to work with them. He stated that he had seen a lot of growth from going to the alphabet to working with word families. He said this had really given him a renewed sense of the value of education and that all people no matter of their race, socio-economic background all start with a basic knowledge and we are all given the right to expand on that. Hazel Brown stated she is glad to see everything going well for our schools and she wished everyone a Merry Christmas. Rex Baity stated he had gone to Charleston, WV and while he was there he received an invitation to go to West Virginia University where they had a program for grades 2-4 on a grant they had received from NASA and had a great time. He also wished everyone a Merry Christmas. Diane Hampton informed the board she had attended a FHS basketball game and was excited to see all the people and the kids full of spirit. She stated that both teams played their hearts out and it was good to see this in Yadkin County. She thanked everyone for their hard work and wished everyone a Merry Christmas. Larry Vestal complimented our student representatives and stated he was glad to see that they felt comfortable enough to speak at the meetings and to say things that are very worthwhile. He stated that the Board appreciated that. Joe Dezern thanked Dr. Bonnie Cook for working with the high schools and guidance to provide information to high school parents concerning financial aid. He also stated he appreciated th e comments our student representatives give at each meeting. He stated that they tell it like it is and that is what we need to hear. Howard Mcknight stated the next board meeting would be held on January 3. He also stated he would like to recognize an outstanding employee that we had recently lost, Betty Shaver. He said he couldn t imagine things getting done without her at Forbush High School. He wished everyone a Merry Christmas and hopes as we go into a new year it will be even more outstanding than 2010 has been. #10-124 On motion by Baity, seconded by Hampton, the Board adjourned the open session Adjournment: meeting at 7:00 p.m. 6
