Girls may wear long green socks, instead of tights, that are now available from the uniform shop. Whilst classrooms are heated, the playground can be cold. It is important that you send a labeled jumper/jacket to school on a daily basis. ANZAC Day Our school will be recognising ANZAC Day by holding a school service at 2:00pm tomorrow. Again, this year we would like to make floral wreaths as part of our commemoration. We would like all families (if possible) to send some flowers to go towards the making of the wreaths. Please feel free to attend this Silver/Gold & ANZAC assembly at 2:00pm this Friday to join the staff and students in remembering our country s ANZACs. A big thank you to Mrs Holland for organising the ceremony this year. During the holidays on ANZAC day, 25 th April, Glenorie students will march from Woolworths car park at 3:00pm in Summer school uniform. The captains will take part in a reading and the placing of a wreath at the cenotaph. Cross Country Carnival Please be informed that our school Cross Country Carnival will be held on Friday 4 th May (Week 1). All students in Years K 6 will compete. The canteen will be selling cakes and drinks on the day. Thanks to Mr Gornalle for coordinating what we are sure will be a great day! Beecroft Zone Carnival will be held on Wednesday 23 May. Pens Pencils Erasers Earlier this year we sent home a stationery list suggesting the items that your child would need to complete class work this year. Some children have been very active with their stationery and supplies are depleting. Please check your child s pencil case and restock it if new pencils, pens, erasers, earphones, glue sticks, etc. are needed. Thanks for your support. A Big Thank You We have such a dedicated team at Glenorie Public School. Thanks to Anna, Rosa and Pao- Lein, our cleaners, and Greg Payne, our general assistant, for taking care of our school. We appreciate your support. School Development Day This year the Department of Education will provide schools with five professional learning (school development) days. On Monday 30th April all teachers and support staff at Glenorie will be undergoing training at Galston Public School on the Seven Steps to Writing. As the day is designed for staff development, no supervision will be provided for students. You will be responsible for the care and safety of your child on both days. All students should therefore return to school on Tuesday 1 st May. Thanks for a Great Term We would like to wish all of our students, staff and families a safe and relaxing holiday break. Thanks for keeping a watchful eye on the school; any problems, please contact our security unit on 1300880021 or Hornsby Police on 94769799. Thanks for a great term EVERYONE we look forward to sharing many more positive learning experiences with you next term. See you all on Tuesday 1 st May. Happy Holidays! Term 1 finishes on Friday 13 th April. Students return for Term 2 on Tuesday 1 May. Become involved in your child s education. Enjoy learning! Lyn Pearce Principal
