PRINCIPAL S REPORT Edition 37 29th November 2017 Twilight Market Despite the weather forecast, it s all systems go for tomorrow s Twilight Market. All stalls and activities will now be located in the Stadium to enable everything to proceed around the impending rain. I encourage everyone in our school community to support this major event despite what will be difficult weather conditions. The PFA has put a huge amount of work into organising and coordinating this event and your support will be greatly appreciated. Tickets still remain in the Thermomix raffle and will be available for purchase tomorrow night. With everything to be located in the Stadium, parking and access from Glenthorn Ave will be difficult, so please plan around this and try to avoid parking in this area. There will be limited access to the Stadium car park. PFA Thank You Sincere thank you to the PFA for their recent fundraising events. The mango sales were a huge success with 130 trays sold and the recent Bake Sale was also a huge success with approximately $1200 raised through this. The PFA has worked tirelessly throughout the year to raise additional funds through their wide range of activities and events, and to date, has raised over $22 000, which is an outstanding result. Oxfam Concert Our Senior Choir and Taiko Group performed last week at the annual Oxfam school concert which was held in the Box Hill Town Hall. Both the choir and the Taiko group gave outstanding performances and were once again wonderful ambassadors for Greythorn Primary School. Congratulations to all of the students involved for your performances on the night. Sincere thanks to Joy Odou for preparing the students so well for this event and for attending on the night to oversee the program. Thank you also to Lorraine Howell and Janice Miller who also attended to assist and support the students. Girls Cricket Team Congratulations to our Girls cricket team who competed last Friday in the Regional finals. They played several matches on Friday, managing to win one of these. The girls in the team have continued to prepare themselves thoroughly for each competition through regular training sessions, with their achievements a result of this dedication. They did an outstanding job to progress so far into the competition. Sincere thanks to Claire Knell for training the girls and also to Megan Stewart-North and Rachel Wallace for attending their matches to coordinate their programs. Curriculum Day Last Friday s curriculum day was a very productive day for the staff. The majority of the day involved presentations from the English and Wellbeing curriculum teams. All of the presentations were outstanding and highlighted the skills and knowledge that the staff at Greythorn possess. The afternoon session was a presentation from a VCAA (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority) representative titled, Unpacking the Digital Technology Curriculum. This was also an engaging and informative session. Feedback from all who attended the day was extremely positive with the program epitomising the school s motto of Working Together.
