Hallsville R-IV Summer School Program 2014 Enrollment Packet Incoming Grades 1-5 Accelerated Extended Learning Summer School Session Dates: June 9-July 3, 2014 Monday- Thursday Daily Time: 8:30 am -2:30 pm Summer school will be held on the Hallsville campus. The location will be announced May 1. Visit www.hallsville.org for forms online. (forms may be printed and returned to school with your child.) Packets are due to your child s school on or before April 25. Purpose: The purpose of summer school is to provide enrichment opportunities, offer exploratory classes, and remediate deficiencies in required courses that may not be available during the traditional school year in areas that are needed by and/or of interest to the student. Summer school is free to all students. Bus Transportation: Summer school provides transportation pick up and drop off services similar to the regular school year services. Service points, routes and schedules will be determined after summer school registration is complete. (See the Bus Transportation Request form in packet.) Breakfast & Lunch: Breakfast and lunch for all summer school students will be available. Students may also choose to bring their lunch. If students qualify for free or reduced meal status during the regular school year, that continues through the summer program. Discipline: All discipline policies outlined in the Student Code of Conduct will be enforced during summer school and all related activities. Inappropriate behaviors are unacceptable during summer school. If a student violates the Student Code of Conduct he/she will be sent to the office where the parent/guardian will be called and the situation discussed. A second violation of the Student Code of Conduct will result in the student s suspension for the remainder of the summer term.

Attendance: The summer school curriculum is a concentrated 4-week program. Classes will be held on Monday- Thursday only. To be able to gain the most benefit from the summer program, students should attend as many days as possible. Families should contact the summer school office in advance if there is a planned absence of 3 or more consecutive days of summer school. Perfect Attendance: Students achieving perfect attendance will qualify for rewards & prizes. Students may qualify for weekly attendance awards. Note: Any absence, including excused absences such as doctor appointments, tardies and discipline referrals disqualify students from attendance rewards. Course Cancellations: Course offerings and schedules will be subject to state funding, student enrollment and teacher availability. Open enrollment will close on April 25. Registration confirmation letters including transportation information, teacher, and class location and schedule will be sent out in early May when the enrollment window has closed. At that time, courses must meet adequate enrollment numbers to be offered. Courses with small enrollments may be cancelled or combined with other offerings. Registrations received after April 25 will be accepted on a space available basis. 2014 Summer School Course Offerings for Grades 1, 2, 3 Math and Science Fun Grade: 1 Math Excursions Grade: 1 Stepping Stones to 1st Grade Grade: 1 Ready, Set, Go! 1st Grade!
