Newsletter Volume 5 Issue 5 April 12 2019 From The Principals Desk Dear Parents, ANZAC Commemorative Service at Golden Bay Primary School On Friday 12 April at 09:00am we held our school ANZAC service. Parents and community members were welcomed to our service. We had many special guests in attendance including Mayor Barry Sammels and LEUT Kieran Davis from the Royal Australian Navy who spoke at our service. Wreaths were laid as a mark of respect to all those who have served our country. COMMUNICATION A friendly reminder that our staff will always find a time to talk to you when they can give you their full attention. Please remember that while our staff are in class, or dealing with other matters, they may not be available to answer your questions immediately. Please never hesitate to make an appointment at a time suitable to both you and the class teacher. SCHOOL HOLIDAYS As we head in to the holiday period I would like to thank my staff for their superb work with the young people entrusted to their care this term. My extended thanks to all of our parents and families for the ongoing support of me, my superb staff and our school. All students return to school on Tuesday 30 April. For many, Easter is a special time of the year. Whatever it means to you, I hope you find time to relax with family and friends. I wish all of our families a safe and relaxing holiday. Events Parliament House Visit Fifty year six students visited Parliament House and the Constitutional Centre as part of their Civics and Citizenship curriculum, and in preparation for their Canberra Study Tour in May. It was a very exciting and memorable experience seeing our West Australian parliament and learning about the processes that form our democracy. The students met the Premier Mr Mark McGowan and the state member of parliament for tourism, Mr Paul Papilla. The students visited the Lower House and observed a meeting in session with the Minister for Culture and the Arts, Mr David Templeman. It was a wonderful experience that was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. Room 2.4 with Mr Paul Papalia CSC MLA Room 2.1 in front of a painting of Parliament House 5

Events INTERSCHOOL SWIMMING CARNIVAL On Wednesday April 3, fifteen determined students from year four to six represented Golden Bay Primary School at the Interschool Swimming Carnival. They were amazing in their efforts, never giving up, working as a team and showing great sportsmanship. Some even swam in extra races to help older teams. We are so proud of the team. Golden Bay finished fourth on the day. Jai was brilliant, swimming in all his year four races and also in year five and year six relays. He won a medal for Year Four Runner Up Champion Boy. Congratulations Jai. 6
