FINAL EVALUATIONS & REPORTS Our school year is divided into two semesters, with a formal set of final evaluations at the end of each semester. It takes approximately three weeks, from the time evaluations are written, until the computer reports are issued. The dates for end of semester evaluations are attached to enable families to plan ahead for holidays or other events. Family holidays should not be planned during any final evaluations or exams. A progress report for all students will be issued after the first month of each semester. A mid semester report card will be issued in early October and March. LOCKS, LOCKERS & VALUABLES Lockers are loaned to students for their use through the school year. Locker combinations are recorded and stored in the office. Students should keep their lock combination secret and are advised not to bring large amounts of money or valuable items to the school, as these are sometimes lost or stolen. During physical education classes, students should leave wallets, personal technology and other valuables in their own personal school locker. Lockers are the property of the Peel District School Board and students use these on a loan basis for the school year. continued on next page
IF YOU NEED TO REACH YOUR CHILD Stephen Lewis is a large school and at certain times (such as lunch time or when students are outdoors/in the gyms for physical education classes) it may be difficult to track them down. We cannot page students during school hours unless it is an emergency. If you must reach your child, please call the school and press '0' for student reception. As much as possible, please make arrangements with your child before they leave for school. STUDENT ABSENCES All students must sign in and out at student reception if arriving late or leaving early. A parent phone call or note is necessary. If a student is unable to attend school the parent should contact the school by telephone on the morning of the absence to explain the reason for the absence. If no telephone contact has been made, the absent student is expected to bring a note legitimizing each absence to student reception, prior to the start of school, the day after that absence. If a parental note or call is not received by the day following the absence, the absence will be considered "unauthorized". Every evening our SynreVoice call home program will phone the homes of all students with un authorized absences. PARENT WEB Parents have the ability to track the attendance of their child in real time using the Parent Web. More information about this service is provided on the school website. Parents need to sign up online and then call the school to make an appointment with a Vice Principal to start monitoring their child's absences and lates.
