A huge thank you to everyone who bought in supplies to use when creating children s hats and to everyone who donated goodies for the raffle. Thank you also to Mrs Dilley for all the work in making up the beautiful hampers, I m sure they were well received by the winners! UNSW Competitions A reminder that if your child is wishing to participate in any of the UNSW Competitions, entries close this Friday, 6 April. These are optional and are open to students in Years 3-6. The entry form is attached to this Bulletin. ANZAC Day Ceremony A reminder that parents and family members are welcome to attend our ANZAC service, which will be held at 10.30am next Thursday, 12 April. We also encourage students to participate in the Huskisson ANZAC March and Memorial Service on ANZAC Day on Wednesday 25 April. I understand that some students may not be able to attend, however, it would be wonderful if Tomerong School was well represented. The return slip is attached to this Bulletin again for parents to indicate if their child is planning to attend. Students are to meet at Hawke Street, Huskisson (near amenities block at the spider park, at 10am. Once again, students are expected to be in full winter school uniform. School Photos Our school photos will be taken on Wednesday 9 May (Week 2, Term2). Money envelopes will be sent home Week 1, Term 2 and need to be returned with the students on the day the photos are taken. Term 1, Week 10 - Issue 10 Wednesday 4 April, 2018 SPORTS SHORTS Cross Country - Tomorrow - Thursday 5 April The school s Cross Country will be held tomorrow, at Timber Hills, Kells Road, Tomerong. This is a whole school (K-6) activity. The cost of the excursion is $8 for those students travelling by bus or $2 (Toilet Hire Levy) for those travelling by private vehicle. Please make sure you have returned your permission note and money. Additional permission notes for this event are available from the office foyer. A limited canteen will be operating at the venue (no lunch orders). We also invite parents to bake cakes and delicious slices for this event to support the on-site canteen operating on the day. We are always in need of parent helpers at the canteen or on the course. If you can help, please let me know. CANTEEN NEWS Cross Country Don t forget that tomorrow is our school cross country and we will gladly accept donations of cupcakes, slices etc. You can either drop them at school in the morning before the bell or take them with you to Timber Hills. Also, any help in the canteen will be very much appreciated. End of Term LUNCH TIME SPECIAL - Wed 11 April Next Wednesday you will be able to buy Bolognese Cups. Yummy bread cups filled with Bolognese and you ll get two of these tasty treats for $2.50 Roster Please have a look at the roster on the canteen door and see if you can donate some of you time to help out. Lorraine - Canteen Co-ordinator Name of volunteer Emma Adrienne Emma SRC NEWS Wacky Wednesday A reminder that next Wednesday 11 April, the SRC are holding a Wacky Wednesday fundraiser. On this day, students are invited to wear crazy hair, crazy socks and mufti clothes. The SRC have voted to support OzHarvest for this fundraiser. OzHarvest is Australia s leading food rescue organisation, collecting quality excess food from commercial outlets and delivering it directly to more than 1000 charities supporting people in need across the country. For every dollar donated to OzHarvest, they can help provide two meals to someone in need. Pease come to school with crazy hair, you can wear it however you like, hairspray, glitter, messy, wigs, hats, as crazy as possible as well as colourful crazy socks. You may also wear mufti to school on this day. Please bring a gold coin as a donation for Oz Harvest. We look forward to a fun day! Mrs Darby SRC Tathra Bushfire Appeal Last Thursday the SRC held a fundraiser to support the Tathra community which was affected by the recent bushfires. We raised over $214 on the day and all proceeds will go to the School Aid Trust Tathra Bushfire Appeal. Thank you for supporting this lovely coastal community in their time of need. Mrs Darby P&C NEWS Coles Sports for Schools The Coles Sports for Schools promotion has now finished. Please make sure you return any vouchers by next Wednesday, 11 April. The collection boxes are located in the office foyer or at Coles Vincentia. Thank you to all the families that have been collecting vouchers, your support is greatly appreciated and the students will have a great time playing with the new sports gear! Tomerong Public School International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) 2018 The 2018 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) will commence in May. In past years, student participation from Tomerong has been high and very good results have been achieved. These competitions provide valuable learning experiences for students and allows parents to monitor their child s progress from independent data. The competitions are open to students in years 3 to 6 and all students who enter are awarded certificates and detailed information about their achievements. Science - 29 May Spelling - 13 June Writing - 14 June English - 31 July Mathematics - 14 August The entry fees for 2018 are $9 each for Science, English and Mathematics. Writing is $18 and Spelling $12. The Writing competition is more costly due to manual marking of exam papers. The closing date for all entries is Friday 6 April, 2018. This will enable us to order the correct number of test papers prior to the assessments. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accept orders after this date.
