WORD OF THE WEEK Attendance We understand that on occasion students are unwell, have a medical condition or other family circumstances that prevent them from coming to school for a brief period of time. We ask that all parents inform our attendance officer, Debbie Brohan via telephone on 02083493581 or via email attendance@ccfplus.com when a student will be absent from school. Absences must be reported on a daily basis. For all medical conditions, the school will need written evidence from a doctor or consultant outlining how the condition will affect the student's attendance and what can be put in place to support the student. Appointments during the school day should be avoided, the only appointments that will be authorised are hospital/ medical/ orthodontist appointments. When parents receive notification of an appointment they should email attendance@ccfplus.com to alert our attendance officer attaching a copy of the appointment letter. On the day of the appointment parents should write a note in the students planner. The student will then need to see their Learning Manager between 8:30am and 8:40am or at break time to get the note signed. At the correct time, the student will go to reception to sign out for the appointment. If a student does not follow this procedure it could cause a delay in leaving the site or they may be unauthorised to leave the site while we carry out safeguarding checks. Parents must ensure their child attends school after the appointment, unless the appointment has been arranged for the end of the day. Thank you. Mrs J Bora Associate Assistant Headteacher Cryophobia Definition An abnormal fear of ice and the cold. Example His cryophobia meant he could never work in the winter months.
The Old Vic's Schools Club. Another great trip was had by a few Year 9 students and the GCSE Drama Year 10 and 11 students, as part of The Old Vic's Schools Club. This time round, the boys underwent a 'A Christmas Carol' themed workshop with The Old Vic here at school before heading off to see the actual production at The Old Vic Theatre. The Theatre was filled with the aroma of mince pies and satsumas, a fantastic performance including falling snow, special effects and everyone leaving filled with Christmas spirit. I think it is safe to say that the boys enjoyed their experience and are looking forward to the next workshop and production with the Old Vic!
