With only 89 of the school s 420 students registered I'm sure when the others get on board we can smash this target out of the park. Registering your child, creating a profile and sharing it with friends and family can all be done online in less than 5 minutes. So let s go Lennox. Principal s Message Welcome back everyone! A special welcome also to all of our new families, we hope you enjoy being part of our fantastic school community. There is a lot happening this term, so please ensure you read the newsletter each fortnight, read the School Stream messages and perhaps join the P&C Facebook page, so that you don t miss out on any of the information this term. Term 4 for students will finish on Wednesday 19 December. Year 6 Farewell will be on Wednesday 12 December. Our major end of year presentation assembly will be held on Friday 14 December and will start at 9:45am. Class party day will be the last day of term Wednesday 19 December. Art Show As you may recall from the last newsletter, the annual Art Show was once again very successful. I had the great pleasure in accepting a cheque for $4000.00 from the Lions Club last week. They very graciously once again gave us all of their profits, plus a little extra. These funds will be used to purchase some much needed resources for the school, possibly in the technology area. We will keep you updated on this as best we can. Once we have children placed in classes, they will be unable to be moved to different classes. New Build Tenders for our upgrade closed last week, so as soon as we have additional information as to who the successful contractor is I will let you know. It is quite possible that the demolition of buildings earmarked to be removed will occur in January when noone is on site. However this is yet to be confirmed. The way we operate next year will be varied. Playground areas may be restricted and movement around the school will be closely monitored. Our Administration Office will be in the building at the back of the school behind the hall by the start of the 2019 school year. Have a great weekend, Deb Langfield Principal Principal Conference I will be attending the NSW State Primary Principal s Conference in Sydney next week from Wednesday to Friday. The executive team of Mrs Armstrong, Mrs Dyer and Mr O Connor will cover my position in my absence. Kinder Orientations Our 2019 Kinders all 79 of them will be visiting us for orientation sessions being held on Tuesday 30 October, Tuesday 6 November and Tuesday 13 November. All of these sessions will begin at 10am. All kinder students enrolled for next year, should have now received a letter addressed to them inviting them to come along. If anyone knows of anyone who is yet to enrol, we do need this information urgently in order for us to plan successfully for 2019. Class Structure 2019 We are currently busy trying to organise class structure, placements and buildings for 2019. In the past we have asked students to nominate up to 4 friends who they might like to be placed with. This will not be occurring this year. Classes will be put together based upon professional teacher judgement and knowing who does work well together and who possibly should not be placed together. At present we will be having 18 classes if we receive possibly another additional 10 enrolments, we will be 19 classes. Consequently across the school we will be very full. Due to the high numbers there will quite possibly be a number of composite classes or we may have to be stage-based classes. We are looking at a couple of scenarios; we may however be in the position that we are unable to accurately form classes for the first couple of days of the new school year, until all enrolments are calculated. Rhett is competing in high jump next week and Brayden competed in the cricket this week. We can t wait to see how you both go! K-2 Sports Morning On Friday 28 September, our students in K-2 participated in a sport rotation designed to offer them experiences in sports they may otherwise not have the opportunity to play. Classes moved around through 7 different activities. Our school was lucky enough to have the support of the NRL, Netball NSW and NSW Rugby who each had Local Development Officers attend to put on free clinics for our students. In addition to these professionally run programs, students in K-2 experienced soft hockey, soccer skills, newcombe ball, and cricket, which were all helped run by some fantastic Stage 3 students. Overall, the students had a great morning engaging in a range of sports, and had many laughs and smiles along the way. Student of the Week Milly T Milly is a friendly and caring student at Lennox Head Public School, who always adheres to our 3 Key Values of Respect, Responsibility and Integrity. In the classroom she demonstrates a positive attitude towards new learning and always works to her capacity. Milly is never deterred by difficulties and always tries to think her way around problems. In the playground she will happily offer assistance and listens to others, making her a reliable friend and older sister. Milly enjoys being creative by attending guitar lessons. She especially loves dance. All these wonderful qualities contribute towards Milly being Student of the Week. Congratulations Milly! Three Key Values in Action Dolphin Slips Dolphin Slips are given to students for demonstrating the Three Key Values of Respect, Responsibility and Integrity.
