FIRE SAFETY AWARENESS AND TRAINING PROGRAMME Fire Safety Awareness and Training Programme was conducted by the Youth Red Cross Unit of Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam on 18.03.2017, Saturday at 11.00 a.m in ECE Seminar Hall. The YRC Co-ordinator Mr.P.Gershom Jebaraj welcomed the gathering. Dr.S.Kannan, Professor and Head, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering presided over the function. In his presidential address, Dr.S.Kannan highlighted the essentials of Fire Safety in all the Houses and Industries. He stresses on the need of Fire Safety Equipment in all the industries especially in Crackers Industry. He recalled various Fire Accidents which happened recently and had claimed more lives only because of failure of Fire Safety standards. He asked all the participants to be aware of the Fire Safety measures. Mr.G.Selvaraj, Senior Fire Safety Officer, Rajapalayam Mills Limited was the Guest and he addressed the Youth Red Cross Volunteers and other participants about the Fire Safety Awareness and Training. He quoted various examples from recent fire accidents that had occurred throughout the world because of human negligence. He also played various videos related to fire accidents. He explained the categories of Fire such as Solid, Liquid, Gas and Metal fire. He also explained various techniques to handle and put out fire. After the addressing, he demonstrated some of the techniques to put out fire with the help of Fire Extinguishers. He asked the Youth Red Cross volunteers and other participants to be aware of Fire Safety and Training. Around 65 members including Youth Red Cross Volunteers, Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff, Lab Technicians and Drivers of Ramco Institute of Technology actively participated in the Programme. The YRC Volunteer M.Shanmugapriyan proposed the Vote of thanks. The YRC Co-ordinator P.Gershom Jebaraj made all the necessary arrangements and coordinated the Programme.

FIRST AID TRAINING PROGRAMME First Aid Training Programme was conducted by the Youth Red Cross Unit of Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam on 10.03.2017, Friday at 02.00 p.m in ECE Seminar Hall. The YRC Volunteer G.S.Abishek welcomed the Gathering. The Principal Dr.R.V.Mahendra Gowda presided over the function. In his presidential address, the Principal highlighted essentials of First Aid Training to save the life in the needy situation. He highlighted the proverb Prevention is better than Cure. We all should avoid the unwanted accidents. If it happened, everyone should know how to do the First Aid. For such activities the First Aid Training is needed, he added. He asked the Youth Red Cross Volunteers to train other students to perform First Aid. Rtn.Dr.G.Kothandaraman, President, Indian Medical Association Branch, Rajapalayam was the Guest and he addressed the Youth Red Cross Volunteers and other participants about the need and significance of the First Aid Training. He quoted various Thirukkural verses related to the First Aid and hence insisted its importance. After the addressing, he demonstrated the First Aid for Giddiness, Heart Attack, Drowning in Water, Met with an Accident etc., on the Stage with the help of a participant. He has shown various Power Point Presentations, Videos and animations to the participants regarding the First Aid. He told that every minute in the First Aid is important. After doing the first aid, the patient has to be brought to the nearby hospital immediately for further treatment. He asked the Youth Red Cross volunteers and other participants to do the First Aid actively without any fear if required. 133 members of Youth Red Cross Volunteers actively participated in the Programme. The YRC Volunteer S.Rajaguru proposed the Vote of thanks. The YRC Co-ordinator P.Gershom Jebaraj made all the necessary arrangements and coordinated the Programme.

International Day of Yoga - 21.06.2017 International Day of Yoga was observed in Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam on 21.06.2017, Wednesday at 11.00 a.m in ECE Seminar Hall. The NSS Volunteer A.Ashwin welcomed the Gathering. Principal Dr.R.V.Mahendra Gowda presided over the function. Mr.S.Venkatta Raja, Yoga Trainer and Mr.A.Murugesan, Yoga Trainer, Manavalakkalai Mandram, Rajapalayam, participated in the Programme. Mr.S.Venkatta Raja addressed the gathering on the Importance of Yoga. He quoted various scientific examples to explain the Importance of Yoga for all human beings. He strongly recommended practicing Yoga for the Engineering students to perform well in their Academic endeavors. Mr.A.Murugesan, Yoga Trainer performed various Asanas in Yoga. The Principal, Staff and Students also performed the Asanas in the Venue. The NSS Volunteer R.Abdul Bashith proposed the Vote of thanks. Blood Donation Camp-04.03.2017 A Blood Donation Camp was conducted by NSS on 04.3.2017 at 10:00 am in the RIT auditorium. This camp was organized in collaboration with Rotary Club, Rajapalayam and Government Maternity Hospital, Rajapalayam. Dr. R.V. Mahendra Gowda, Principal, RIT formally inaugurated the function. The event was organized for the II, III and IV year students of RIT. The NSS volunteers of our college actively participated and about 152 units of blood were donated to the Rotary Club of Rajapalayam. Students donating their blood during the Blood Donation Camp.

Swacchta Pakhwada -01.09.2017-15.09.2017 Ref: Communication received from AICTE, New Delhi and MHRD, GOI, dated 17 th August 2017 regarding SWACCHTA PAKHWADA. Medical Camp - 06.09.2017 A Medical Camp was jointly organized by the NSS Unit of Ramco Institute of Technology and the Rotary Club of Rajapalyam on 06.09.2017 at 02.00 p.m. in RIT Auditorium. 370 first year students were involved in the camp. 15.09.17- Tree plantation Programme On this day, our college principal Dr. R.V. Mahendra Gowda, Mr. Selvaraj DGM(A), Dr. Raja Karunakaran Professor and Head (Mechanical Engineering) and NSS officer involved in tree plantation programme in front our college campus. Around 100 trees were planted in this programme. In this program 25 volunteers participated. Our Principal, DGM(A) and faculty members involved in tree plantation. Our Principal Dr. R.V. Mahendra Gowda actively involving in tree plantation.

Sapling Plantation, Clean Campus and Personality Development Program-26.11.2017 A tree plantation programme was conducted in the campus on 26.11.2017 from 09:00 pm to 05:00 pm. NSS volunteers and the programme officer participated in the programme. 400 saplings of various were planted in near the Parking Shed. In this program 262 volunteers participated. RIT NSS Boys Volunteers actively involving in tree plantation. RIT NSS Girls Volunteers actively involving in Clean Campus Programme.
