KENNEDY LIFETIME EDUCATION CENTER. 2015-141 CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 2015-142 ADOPTION OF AGENDA The agenda of the August 10, 2015 regular Meeting of the Board of School Trustees was approved as presented with added Personnel Recommendations inserts items 15, 16, and 17. 2015-143 APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the July 13, 2015 Regular Meeting and Executive Session minutes of the Board was approved as presented 2015-144 SUPERINTENDENT S REPORT First day of School August 11, 2015. Luce Elementary Open House Tues Aug 18 th @ 6pm. Congratulate Cindy Harrison, Heather Robinson, and their many volunteers from Rockport Staff as well as the community at large. They have made a tremendous contribution to Rockport Elementary by painting our hallways and lunchroom with inspiring quotes and beautiful paintings that will inspire and uplift generations of students. Congratulate Jennifer Scarbrough for her hard work in getting Rockport Elementary application for the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation fees accepted for funding. This is also a part of the program that is helping to redo the pre-school playground. Congratulate Abbie Lawalin for receiving the Indiana Gold Star School Counseling Award. The school counseling portfolio for South Spencer Middle School that you submitted for the Indiana Gold Star School Counseling Award has been approved. The school exhibits the highest level of school counseling professionalism in Indiana by meeting or exceeding the Indiana School Counseling Program Standards. The Gold Star designation is also recognized nationally through the American School Counselor Association s highest award the RAMP Award for Recognized ASCA Model Programs. Mike Robinson and Steve Haaff both acknowledge and thanked Eric Ayer for his 34 years of service as the Board Attorney. 2015-145 RECOGNITIONS 3

Tim Martin - Recognize Cevin Collins, Charles Nix, Trent Thorpe, and Chris Hayden for their volunteer work at the football stadium. Steve Haaff then recognized Tim Martin for all his work he has done. 2015-146 PRESENTATIONS 2015-147 STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC 2015-148 STATEMENTS/CONCERNS OF THE BOARD Scott Richard announced that the 2015 State Baseball team, South Spencer Rebels, will be recognized at the Otters Baseball game on Saturday August 15, 2015 @ 6:35. 2015-149 CONSENT ITEMS 1. Approved the payroll claim dockets and claims numbered 804 to 942. 2. Approved the Treasurers financial report. 3. Approved the list of Volunteers as presented. 4. Approved to allow Luce Elementary and Rockport Elementary to spend $289.00 each from their interest income monies from the checking account to renew their membership for the 2015-2016 Association membership in the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP). 5. Approved the FMLA request from Nanette Hendrix to commence on August 10, 2015 to December 31, 2015. 6. Accepted the resignation of Paul Melton from his position as the 6 th Grade Girls Basketball Coach, effective for the 2015-2016 school year. 7. Accepted the resignation of Rebecca Barry from her position as Special Needs Bus Driver, effective for the 2015-2016 school year. 8. Approved the resignation of Jane Schmidt as High School 10-Month Custodian and post his position, effective as of July 31, 2015. 9. Approved the resignation of Jarod Haynes as the Girls Golf Coach position, effective for the 2015-2016 school year. 10. Approved the resignation of Brandi Shelby as a teacher for South Spencer Middle School, effective for the 2015-2016 school year. 11. Approved to allow an officer of the Indiana State Police Department visit Ellen Sarver forensics class at the high school and allow him to bring in firearms without firing mechanisms and bullets to check for striations. 12. Accepted the resignation of Peggine Rose as an aide for South Spencer Middle School, effective for the 2015-2016 school year. 13. Accepted the resignation of Andrea Batson from the afterschool program at Luce Elementary effective immediately. 2015-150 OLD BUSINESS OF THE BOARD 1. Amended the approval from last month board meeting for the Luce Elementary Handbook 2015-2016 and Rockport Elementary Handbook 2015-2016 to correct the requirements for immunizations. Motion: Barbara Tuley 4

2. Amended the approval from April 2015 Board meeting for the approved assistants of Shelby Masterson and Christian Potts for the summer band program to just Becky Harpenau. Due to life changing events they were not able to fulfill their duties. 2015-151 DISCUSSION ITEMS 2015-152 ADMINISTRATIVE RECOMMENDATIONS PERSONNEL RECOMMENDATIONS 1. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Katie Pounds for the position Girls Soccer Coach, effective 2015-2016 school year, pending background check. Motion: Barbara Tuley 2. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Randy Neighbors for the position Boys & Girls Golf Coach, effective 2015-2016 school year. 3. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Angela English for the position of Speech and Language Pathologist for South Spencer County School Corporation, effective 2015-2016 school year, pending background check. Motion: Barbara Tuley 4. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Jennifer Scarbrough for the position of SSMS Cheer Co-Sponsor, effective 2015-2016 school year. 5. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Amanda Day for the position of Multimedia Support Specialist at Luce Elementary, effective 2015-2016 school year, pending background check. 5

6. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Tina Nix for the position of ECA Treasurer / Secretary at SSHS, effective 2015-2016 school year, pending background check. 7. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Rebecca Harmon for the position of Full Time Special Needs Aide at Rockport Elementary, effective 2015-2016 school year. 8. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Debbie Bippus for the position of Special Needs Bus Driver, effective 2015-2016 school year. 9. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Abby Galyan for the position of Full Time Special Needs Aide at South Spencer Middle School, effective 2015-2016 school year, pending background check. 10. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Heath Grose for the position of Industrial Technology teacher at South Spencer Middle School on a contract base of 4 years and Masters experience, effective 2015-2016 school year. 11. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Dudley Mitchell for the position of Family and Consumer Science teacher at South Spencer Middle School on a contract base of 10 years experience Bachelors, effective 2015-2016 School year, pending background check and confirmation of Indiana license. 6

Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Corey Lampkins for the position of 6 th Grade Girls Basketball Coach, effective 2015-2016 school year, pending background check. 13. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Brandi Salkill for the position of 7 th Grade Volleyball Coach, effective 2015-2016 school year. 14. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Stephanie Melton for the position of 8 th Grade Volleyball Coach, effective 2015-2016 school year, pending background check. 15. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to employ Molly Magill for the position of High School 10-Month Night Custodian, effective 2015-2016 school year, pending background check. 16. 2015-153 NEW BUSINESS OF THE BOARD 1. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve the two year agreement between South Spencer County School Corporation and Dubois, Spencer, Perry, and Pike Counties Joint Services and Supply Fund as presented. 2. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve the agreement between South Spencer County School Corporation and CCBCC Operations, LLC (Coke) as presented. 3. Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, approve to grant permission to advertise the 2016 school budget, capital projects fund plan and school bus replacement plan. 2015-154 INFORMATION ITEMS These were written reports to the Board. 2015-155 MISCELLANEOUS 1.
