Resolutions for 2016 My Dearest Palmetto Pilots, As we begin the New Year, we always sit down to make resolutions. How will I make this year BETTER than the previous year? I wanted to share some of my Pilot Resolutions with each of you. In the year 2016, I resolve to Pay my financial obligations in a timely manner and make sure I inform others when that may not be possible. Focus on improving my knowledge about the history and traditions of Pilot International. Actively support my district and my District Administrative Council. Actively support the initiatives of Pilot International our ABC s. Visit with my fellow Pilot Sisters and Brothers. Listen more than I speak [and make sure I continue to actively listening with my heart, not just my ears]. Do More. Care More. Be More. Resolutions help us focus our energies toward positive outcomes. We look at the year with hope and optimism this will be MY year! During 2016, I challenge each and every Pilot to TARGET an area or concern that will improve our clubs and our district, EVALUATE our progress on meeting our Target, and celebrate our ACCOUNTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS when we are successful! But, please don t stop there! Review the cycle throughout the year and continue to Make Pilot your Cup of TEA! True Course Ever! Highlights from Governor Elect Vivian Lee The Positive Energy bus pulled into the Flight Deck in Lexington, SC, around 9am on January 23, 2016, in lieu of the threatening weather all around the state. Although the crowd was not as large as planned, it was definitely larger than expected based on what weather forecasters predicted. Around 10am, the 2016 Leadership Workshop moved into first gear.
Rule #1 Create Positive Vision Rule # Fuel Your Ride with Positive Energy Rule #3 Make Positive Choices Rule #4 Treat Everyone with Positive Power Rule #5 Enjoy Your Positive Ride To help move the bus along our Positive Energy journey, the group participated in activities with their tablemates, a skit, and lots of open discussion. Before the Positive Energy bus left the Flight Deck, all attendees were encouraged to take Positive Energy back to their clubs. Looking for more positive energy and tips see Jon Gordon s book The Energy Bus 10 Rules to Fuel Your Life, Work, and Team with Positive Energy or for quick tips see The Energy Bus for Kids A Story About Staying Positive and Overcoming Challenges. My Pilot New Year's resolutions are: * communicate with Pilot members via visits, email, texts, mail, and phone * create positive energy throughout SC * provide positive support for my Pilot family

Please note a slight change in hours which was recommended due to the travel time for most Anchors and Pilots. A registration form is attached for your convenience in registering. Cost of registration is $10.00. The registration form should be mailed to S. C. Pilot District Treasurer, Paula Durham, 40 Durham Court, Wedgefield, S. C. 29168. Please Email a copy to Walhalla Anchor Advisor, Patrisha Riser at priser@oconee.k12.sc.us and the Lina Blizzard, S. C. District Anchor Coordinator at clblizzard@centurylink.net. Deadline for registration is Saturday, February 13, 2016. The Walhalla Anchors have been working hard to make this a memorable convention for both Anchors and Pilots. For their service project they have decided to host a Service Project Carousel, which will include work stations for their projects. Resources for the service project carousel will be provided by the host club. The project includes the following: 1. No sew fleece scarves; 2. No-skid socks for nursing home residents; 3. No sew dog toys made out of old shirts; 4. Motivational labels on water bottles; 5. Busy books (coloring book packets); 6. Meals on Wheels decorated lunch bags; 7. Meals on Wheels handmade birthday and holiday cards. Wow! Doesn t this sound like a lot of fun as well as great service projects which will benefit many people. Now I have a favor for assistance by Pilots. Please contact the Anchor Advisor in your area and remind them that each club attending the convention should select two (2) Anchors to serve as delegates and another Anchor to serve as an alternate. These will be your voting members when we elect officers and vote on other business. Also, nominees are needed for Anchor District offices. Any Anchor who is nominated for a District office may not serve as a delegate or alternate. I am attaching a Nominations Form for officers. The deadline for Nominations is Saturday, February 13. Forms should be sent to Mrs. Lina Blizzard, 107 Woodland Way, Greenwood, S. C. 29646 or by email to clblizzard@centurylink.net. Any assistance you might give the Anchors in obtaining nominees and completing this form will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all of your help in making this convention a success. I look forward to seeing many of you in Walhalla on February 27 th. Lina Blizzard, S. C. District Anchor Coordinator

SC Executive Committee Representative Judy Jackson Time surely does fly. It is hard to believe that it is already February. How many of your New Year s resolutions have you kept? Hopefully one that you made and have kept involves service. Every year we make goals. These goals need to be ones that we can live up to. Find the motivation to serve your community through Pilot. There are so many people who need our support. You may be called on to serve as an officer on the club level, district level, or international level. We need strong leaders. This year, just say YES. The Awards Committee has worked hard to update the Pilot and Anchor Awards. There is a new Anchor Award and a new Anchor Scholarship. The Anchor Club Star Award recognizes graduating Anchors who have served as leaders in their club and who have served their community through service projects. The Anchors receiving this award will be recognized at their District Anchor Convention or District Pilot Convention with a certificate from Pilot International. The Anchor Achievement Scholarship will provide financial assistance to graduating seniors who have actively participated in volunteer service through Anchor Club and who have shown outstanding leadership ability. The criteria and applications for the awards and scholarships can be found on the Pilot International website. For Anchor Awards, select I m an Anchor at the top of the screen and then awards and scholarships. For Pilot Awards, select I m a Pilot. Under Pilot International on the left side of the screen, select Pilot International Awards. Deadlines are on each award, so be sure to check the website. Don t miss out. Let s recognize Anchors and Pilots who shine for our wonderful organization. Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It s what you do for others.
