Out of School Hours Care Program Phone Number 9314 9358 Farewell to Our Year 6 Students and Students Leaving Wembley On Friday we will farewell our Year 6 students as they leave Wembley Primary School in preparation for their secondary schooling. We wish all of our exiting students all the very best in their new schools and feel confident that they will continue to uphold all the values that have been a focus of their time at Wembley Primary School. We know that they will look back on their time at Wembley Primary School and fondly remember friends and teachers for many years to come. Teachers Leaving Wembley in 2014 Best wishes are extend to the following teachers who will be leaving Wembley Primary School : Lisa Baker Ann-Marie Sterjovski Simon Nolan Kelleigh Evans Ellie Tracey and we look forward to their return in the future. 2015 Commencement Dates Teachers will be returning to school on Wednesday 28 January and participate in one day of planning and preparation for the school year. Students in Year 1 through to Year 6 return to school on Thursday 29 January. The school year will commence with an assembly. Students in Prep commence school on Monday 2 February. This will be a full day of school. Prep students do not attend school on Wednesday for the month of February. Student Free Days (Curriculum Days) for 2015 Change of Date In the Newsletter dated 10 November the following dates were advertised as the Student Free Days for 2015. Wednesday 28 January Wednesday 25 February Wednesday 13 May Wednesday 24 June Unfortunately, Wednesday 13 May falls during the administration of the NAPLAN test and as such, we will not proceed with this date. School Council has agreed to Wednesday 20 May as the alternative date. Please note the change and enter it into your diaries. Please note: The Out Of School Hours Care offers a full day program on each of these Student Free Days with the exception of Wednesday 28 January, 2015. The program will be advertised well in advance of the Student Free Day and bookings can be made by telephoning 93149358. Timetable Change for 2015 To accommodate the introduction of a systematic and focussed approached to intervention in 2015, this includes support for students who require additional time to master the Essential Learning and students who require enrichment, we will be making some small alterations to the timetable for 2015. These changes will not impact on the start or end of the day but will alter the times for recess and lunch breaks. The new times will be: 8.55am 9.00am: Students arrive and settle into class

9.00am 10.40am: Teaching and learning session 10.40am 11.00am: Recess 11.00am 12.40pm: Teaching and learning session 12.40pm 12.55pm Supervised lunch eating in classroom 12.55pm 1.35pm: Recess 1.35pm 3.15pm: Teaching and learning session 3.15pm: Dismissal The new timetable will commence on the first day of Term 1. goodbye to teachers and students who will leaving Wembley Primary School this year. Students will be dismissed at 1.30pm. Christmas Hamper Raffle Thank you to all of our families who have generously donated gifts and items to the Christmas Hamper raffle. Currently 10 hampers have been assembled as prizes for Friday. Parents are still welcome to donate goods for the raffle and additional books of tickets are available from the office. The raff le will be drawn on Friday afternoon at our final assembly. Thank you I would like to acknowledge the wonderful efforts of the entire staff at Wembley Primary School, this includes; teaching, office, education support and Out of School Hours Care, crossing supervisors and maintenance staff for their fantastic efforts throughout the year. They have ensured that the students have been educated in a learning environment that has been challenging, nurturing and caring. Congratulations and well done for another great year at Wembley Primary School. To the parents, guardians and grandparents thank you for your continued support of the school and the wonderful partnership that you have created with the school in support of your child s learning. To the students thank you for making the school the great place it is. Enjoy the holiday break and I look forward to our return in January, 2014. Canteen Today (Wednesday) was the last day of opening for the school canteen for the year. The canteen will be closed on Thursday and Friday of this week. Children will need to bring their lunch from home on Thursday and they will be dismissed before lunch on Friday afternoon. Any students attending the Out of School hours Care program will need to bring their lunch to school on Friday too. End of Year Assembly The final assembly for the year will be held on Friday 19 December at 1.15pm on the basketball court. Our Christmas Hamper raffle will be drawn at assembly. There will also be an opportunity to say
