KARNS CITY AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD ACTION August 8, 2016 APPROVED MINUTES: --Approved the minutes of the June 20, 2016 meeting. STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE REPORT: --Miss Sydney Turner reported on plans to incorporate STUCO with incoming seventh graders. The 2016-2017 school year platform Get Involved is the proposed theme of Miss Turner s term. Miss Turner will speak at orientation for seventh grade regarding activities and sports options and seniors and juniors will be available in the junior high locker area the first week of school to assist the seventh grade students as needed. TEACHER REPRESENTATIVE REPORT -- Mrs. Knoll and Mr. Conto reported for Mr. Kelly, Ms. Loheyde, Ms. Creel, and Ms. Hogan on Chapter 339 Career Education and Work Standards for Guidance K-12. This plan addresses education within the school to become college and career ready. Butler County is the only county in the state not to have a prepared guidance plan. Chapter 339 will permit the counselors to have more lessons in the classroom and be more engaged with students. Groundwork began last school year and will continue through 2016-2017.
