Here is a quick recap of what we ve been up to: Port Welshpool Fishcare Excursion Last Friday we headed off to Port Welshpool for a Fishcare and coastal awareness excursion. The students learnt about skills such as identifying fish, measuring fish, reading bag limits, safe fish handling, knot tieing and casting, before being given the opportunity to wet a line themselves. It was great to see the students skills develop markedly in such a short period of time, which paid off with lots of fish being caught. Catch of the day went to Sunday who managed to catch a huge eel! A massive thankyou to the PFA for paying for the bus this allowed us to offer the excursion to students free of charge. School Uniform On Wednesday we had a visit from Anish (Toora Foodworks) to present the students with their new school polo shirts. Anish very generously provided the funds to allow us to purchase each student a polo with our new school logo. The students were very excited to receive these thanks Anish! We will be sending home an order form in the next couple of weeks if you would like to purchase any additional items. 14th March 2018 Pear Party Thanks to the parents and community members who gave up their Sunday to hold a stall at the Pear Party. By all accounts it was a very successful day. There is now only two weeks of Term 1 left, however there are still, lots of things left on our to-do list. Here s a few reminders: Parent Teacher Interviews Interviews will be held Wednesday 28th March. Forms were sent home earlier this week; can you please have these back to school by next Friday (23/3). Pupil Free Day Tuesday the 27th we will be having a pupil free day to allow teachers to attend professional development in the Latrobe Valley. Mr Whittle and I will be attending a VCOP Writing PD at Thorpdale, Mrs Gilbertson will be attend a Leading Literacy (Reading) in Moe. Easter Raffle Tickets for the PFA Easter Raffle were sent home with the last newsletter just a reminder that all sold and unsold tickets and money need to be returned to the school by Wednesday 28th March. Andrew Wishart This Saturday night the PFA have organised for Andrew Wishart to perform at the Toora Hall. This is a fundraiser for the school so we would love to see you there if you haven t got any other plans. See Jen Delaney for tickets. See you on the dance floor - I ll be wearing my green suit! Have a great last two weeks of term! Mr H. Musical Futures Next Friday is our second full day Musical Futures workshop. Students will be working with the Musical Futures teachers for the day will Mr Whittle, Mrs Gilbertson and plan for Term 2.
