21 st Century Scholars Program Indiana s 21st Century Scholars is a needs- and performance-based program that provides students the opportunity to earn up to a four-year scholarship at an Indiana college or university. Hoosier students who meet income criteria can enroll during their 7th- or 8thgrade year of middle school. Students commit to maintaining academic success, remaining drug and alcohol free, and completing college-preparation activities. Scholars are provided resources and assistance to help them plan and prepare for college and pay for expenses not covered by their scholarship. *The deadline is June 30, 2019 for current 8 th grade students. You cannot apply for this scholarship after June of a student s 8 th grade school year. The deadline is quickly approaching. WEBSITE: www.scholars.in.gov

ATTENDANCE Please attempt to call the attendance line by 9:00 a.m. to report an absence. Please contact attendance 3-4 days prior to a prearranged absence to request homework Eight-Day Limit Per Semester 1. Every student has an opportunity to earn credit in a class provided the student does not have more than 8 absences without an approved attendance waiver. 2. Any student who accumulates more than 8 absences in a given class may lose credit.

Graduation Pathway Requirements Graduation Pathway Options 1) High School Diploma Meet the statutorily defined diploma credit and curricular requirements. 2) Learn and Demonstrate Employability Skills (Students must complete at least one of the following). Learn employability skill standards through locally developed programs. Employability skills are demonstrated by one of the following: Project-Based Learning (PBL) Experience; OR Service-Based Learning (SBL) Experience; OR Work-Based Learning (WBL) Experience. Any demonstration needs to be validated locally by: Student work product AND school validation. 3) Postsecondary-Ready Competencies (Students must complete at least one of the following.) Honors Diploma: Fulfill all requirements of either the Academic or Technical Honors diploma; OR ACT: College-ready benchmarks; OR SAT: College-ready benchmarks; OR ASVAB: Earn minimum AFQT score to qualify for placement into one of branches of US military; OR State- & Industry-recognized Credential or Certification; OR Federally-recognized Apprenticeship; OR Career-Technical Education Concentrator: Must earn a C average or higher in at least 6 high school credits in a career sequence; OR AP/IB/Dual Credit/Cambridge International courses or CLEP Exams: Must earn a C average or higher in at least three courses; OR Locally created pathway that meets the framework from and earns the approval of the State Board of Education.

Core 40 with Academic Honors Diploma Complete all requirements for Core 40 Earn 2 additional Core 40 math credits Earn 6-8 credits Core 40 world language credits (6 credits in one language or 4 credits each in two languages) Earn 2 Core 40 fine arts credits Earn a grade of C or above in courses that count toward the diploma Have a cumulative GPA of a B or above
Core 40 with Academic Honors Diploma Complete one of the following: A. 4 credits in AP courses and take corresponding AP exams, B. 6 college credits in dual credit courses from priority course list, C. Earn two of the following: 1. 3 college credits from priority course list, 2. 2 credits in AP courses and take corresponding AP exams, 3. 2 credits in IB courses and take IB exams. D. Earn a 1750 or higher on the SAT critical reading, math, and writing sections and a minimum of 530 on each section E. Earn an ACT composite score of 26 or higher and complete written section F. Earn 4 credits in IB courses and take corresponding exams
Core 40 with Technical Honors Diploma Combines rigor and relevance; Prepares students for two year or four college, technical school, or apprenticeship; Students gain marketable skills and, in many cases college credit; Student can earn both the Core 40 with Academic Honors and the Core 40 with Technical Honors Diploma.
General Diploma English 8 credits Math Science 4 credits Must include 2 credits in Algebra I or Integrated Math I Must earn 2 credits in a Math course or Quantitative Reasoning course during junior or senior year. 4 credits Must include 2 credits in Biology I At least 1 credit must be from a Physical Science or Earth and Space Science course.
General Diploma Only available to students whose parents feel students are unable to complete the Core 40 curriculum. Parents must meet with the school counselor to review student s course work. Parent and student must complete Opt Out Form

Students will meet with their high school counselor individually to go over course requests and to identify a CAREER PATHWAY

Core Class Requirements You must choose a full year Core Class from English, Math, and Science to stay on track for graduation requirements for a CORE40 Diploma. After choosing these courses, you may look into full year and semester electives to fill your schedule. Enrollment in Homeroom 9 is required and has already been added to your course request list. You must have a total of 14 courses selected. The bottom of your screen will show the number of selections. Contact the High School Guidance Dept with any questions.
