Historical Context the HEAR. an electronic document providing a record of student achievement during their period of study... which also meets the purposes of the Diploma Supplement (DS) Serves two functions 1. a formal, exit document, made available at the point of graduation intended to capture more fully the totality of the student s performance and to enable students to represent a wider range of their achievements thereby enhancing their employability - verified by the University c/f Diploma Supplement = supplement to the degree certificate 2. a formative document which may be available and used from the point of a student s entry to HE onwards throughout their HE experience: as a basis for reviewing progress and planning future activities = academic and beyond the curriculum; Driven by Professor Burgess and the Centre for Recording of Achievements (CRA)
