Overseas Trips are designed to give students the opportunities to explore different cultures and understand how businesses work across regions in the world. With corporate visits arranged, students can also go deep into specific industries and companies. Study Trip to Myanmar This year, the study trip to Yangon, Myanmar, was spread across 8 days from 28 September to 5 October 2017. During the trip, IBCE students had the chance to experience local cultures in Myanmar, and gain new insight on business practices through firm visits. The trip revealed the beauty and potentials of Myanmar to us. We saw kindness, honesty and passion everywhere - from senior business management and university professors, to our tour guide and other locals in markets, restaurants, etc. Besides, while we have been learning about outsourcing and factory relocations for years, it was a fresh experience for most of us to visit a clothing factory or a wood factory in person. All of a sudden, all the theories became real in front of us, stimulating reflections on efficiency and labor rights. Genatt Yung, Class of 2018 Orientation Trip to Inner Mongolia With the aim to experience company culture and managerial styles of Chinese enterprises, Year 2 IBCE students from CUHK and the University of South Carolina (USC) went to Hohhot and Baotou in Inner Mongolia for a 7-day orientation trip in August 2017. In this 7-day cohort orientation trip, IBCE batch 8 students were given with precious chances to visit some of the well-recognized companies in Inner Mongolia over various industry sectors. The trip did not merely mark the tightened bonding of the cohort class, but it is through the visits to companies differentiated from industry genres, scale of operations and targeted markets, that offer great insights for us to see how companies strive in different industries yet sharing similar missions and values.
