Students who are frequently absent have lower test scores, a lower likelihood of being on graduation track, a lower likelihood of graduating, and lower course grades. COUNSELOR'S CORNER NEW SCHOLARSHIP! Attached you will find a copy of the application for the Edwin Moak Jr. Scholarship administered by the CREATE Foundation. The scholarship is funded by the Rotary Club of Oxford, and was established in memory of Edwin Moak, who was an outstanding Oxford High School student who died of cancer his senior year. Graduating seniors at Lafayette County High School or Oxford High School who are not children of Rotary Club members are eligible to apply. The recipient must attend an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. The scholarship amount is $4,000, payable by semester as long as the recipient maintains a minimum 2.5 GPA. All scholarship applications must be submitted to the counseling office no later than March 31, 2017. As mentioned in a previous Weekly Charger, the Oxford High School Counselors will be holding parent meetings for the upcoming school year. These meetings will be very helpful to you as we will discuss important information regarding the college planning process. We will be meeting with your student individually to discuss course options the week following each set of parent meetings.
