INDUSTRY INSTITUTE INTERACTION Better interaction between Technical institutions and industry is the need of the hour. This will have great bearing on the Engineering Curriculum, exposure of industrial atmosphere to engineering students and subsequent placement of young graduating engineers in industries across the country. With the advent of globalization and opening up of Indian economy to outside world, competition among industries have become stiff. To solve their engineering problems they look up now to engg. Institutions. Similarly, there is an urgent need to prepare engineering students for jobs in multinational companies, by exposing them to newer technologies and engineering methodologies. These objectives can only be achieved well by bridging the gap between industry and the academic institute. To promote Industry- Institute Interaction following schemes are being undertaken through polytechnics/ Engg. Colleges :- Establishment of Industry-Institute Partnership /interaction Cell. Organizing Seminar/ Workshop on topics pertaining to Industry-Institute Interaction. Encouraging engineers from industry to visit Engineering Institution to deliver lectures. Participation in curriculum design activity. Arranging visits of staff members to various industr

OBJECTIVES Technical education is the supreme component of Human Resource Development with infinite potential for supplementing greater value to products and services and for improving the quality of life of the people. The Department of Technical Education explicitly provides technically trained manpower in various fields of Engineering & Technology encompassing Diploma, Post Diploma, Degree & Post Graduate level courses conducted through technical Institutions like Polytechnics/ Engineering Colleges/ Institutions of Management/ Computer/ Pharmacy thereby also meeting the requirements of Industries/ Departments/ Organisations and other user agencies. To accomplish all this, the Department performs multifarious roles which, interalia, entail conducting of Entrance Tests, Admission, Examination, updating of curricula & various training programmes. Development of entrepreneurship is also promoted through Industry-Institute-Interaction for ensuring proper placement of students, extra-curricular activities and all round development of their personality. The Department goes to the extent of providing necessary assistance & means of controlling almost all vital activities of the Institutions. It even takes corrective measures from time to time to evolve the quality of education through conducting various short term courses & training programmes for the faculty & staff members. As the Technical Education Department has full administrative control over all Technical Institutions of the State, it takes upon itself the gigantic task of preparing five year plans and annual plans. It also makes budget provisions for the implementation of various schemes & programmes. Further, despite offering assistance to privately managed Government Aided Institutions/ University, it also takes up the onerous task of capacity building by way of creating various facilities at all levels, thereby keeping itself abreast of developing fields of science & technology.
