VIJAYANAGARA SRI KRISHNADEVARAYA UNIVERSITY, BALLARI. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SPORTS DEPARTMENT: The University established in the year 2010-11. The sports department is established in the year 2011-12. This Department established to wholesome development personality and promote health and sports activities among students. Sports and games are one such area promoted by the university with an intention of ensuring Physical, Mental and Emotional Health of the Student Community. The Department of Physical Education caters to the sports needs of students from all the affiliated colleges and PG Centers. The University sports committee has been established for the development of the sports activities of the students. The sports department will formulate sports policies, frame Rules & Regulations and organize sports programme from time to time. The committee will carry the university sports Budget Allocation and sports development fund and for the development of sports. OBJECTIVES: To promote students sports participation and to create awareness about the benefits of Physical Education and Sports and to spread Sports Culture among the students. To search Sports Talent at the College level and to groom them as better performers. To project the potentials of University by organizing National Level Tournament. -1-

To Develop Adequate and Standard sports infrastructure facilities like playing fields, Gymnasium, Swimming Pool, Track & Field and procure Quality Equipments. To provide Systematic Coaching Programme by involving Qualified & competent Personnel to groom University Teams & Sports Talent. To plan the Organization of any Inter-University Tournment allotted by the A.I.U. SELECTION OF UNIVERSITY TEAMS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE INTER UNIVERSITY COMPETITIONS: The sports committee has recommended to conduct the following sports event for the current year Cross-Country (M & W), Ball Badminton (M & W), Chess (M & W), Shuttle Badminton (M & W), Hand Ball (M), Kabaddi (M & W), Volleyball (M & W), Cricket (M), Athletics (M & W), Kusthi & Judo (M), Kho Kho (M & W), Throw ball (M & W), Yoga (M & W), Football (M), Table Tennis (M & W), Basketball (M & W), Hockey (M) and Weight Lifting, Power Lifting & Best Physique (M). The Selection of Players / Teams for various Inter University Competitions will be done by the Committees formed by the University Sports Committee. Each selection committee which will be chaired by the Principal / Director / Sports Co-Ordinator and the Selection Committee members. The University Team Manager/Coaches will be nominated by the sports Co-Ordinator based on their Experience / Knowledge / Ability / Proficiency from among the university affiliated colleges and staff. -2-

The eligibility particulars of the Players who are attending the University team selection trails should be sent in advance by institutions or colleges to the Department of Physical Education. The A.I.U. eligibility criteria will be followed. The University Team s captaincy will be decided by the Director of Physical Education, University of VSKU Ballari based on Seniority / Game Knowledge / Discipline / Leadership Qualities / Participation in the National Championship / Achievements in the Inter-University Competitions and National Championships. The selections committee will select the players and Stand-Bys of the university teams based on their performance during the Trails/Competitions. If performance standard of any Team/Player is not satisfactory as felt by the selection committee members, on the recommendations of the committee such Team/Player may not be sent for participation in Inter-University Tournaments. They will be invited for coaching camp by the Sports Co-Ordinator on getting the information from the organizing college. The duration of coaching/training Camp may vary depending upon circumstances/conditions. Attending University Team Coaching is compulsory and in case any team Player(s) is/are Absent for camp, Stand-By(s) will be called for the camp by Sports Co-Ordinator. The players may obtain attendance certificates for the period of attending coaching camp and Inter-University Tournaments for regularizing their attendance in their colleges, as per the University Norms. -3-

Officials Accompanying the University Teams for Inter-University Competitions will be issued Attendance Certificate on completion of Assignment. The University Players/Officials will be provided with Track Suits/Sports Wears with University Logo as per the color combination proposed by the Sports Department. UNIVERSITY INTER COLLEGIATE TOURNAMENTS: The Sports committee will recommend the Sports Department of University to conduct all the University Inter Collegiate Tournaments/hence various colleges of the University will request the department for conducting the Inter Collegiate Tournaments by them. According to their request the committee will recommend and allot to the colleges. The Principal/Director of the Host College will be the Chair person of the organizing committee. The Sports Director of the organizing college will be the organizing secretary. The Sports Committee of the University will nominate five Sports Directors as selection committee members. The Sports Co-Ordinator will attend all the Inter College Tournaments and help to conduct the tournaments. Winners/Runners Certificates will be distributed after completion of Tournaments. Duties of the Host Colleges / Institution: It shall be the Duty of the Host College to Ensure that all the Rules Laid down by the Sports Department of VSKU Ballari, VSKU Ballari for the Inter-Collegiate Tournaments are complied with. -4-

In case of any infringement of the playing rules by a team or players, the organizing committee shall have the powers to take appropriate action. If a team is found to have included a Non- Bonafide student as players, after due verification, the team shall be Scratched from the Tournament. In Men/Women Sections Fixtures for Inter-Zonal Games will be drawn by the Director of Sports Co-Ordinator / Principal / Physical Director / Team Manager. Jury of Appeal: The jury of Appeal for Inter-Zonal Tournament should be constituted with the following members only: Chairman University Representative Convener Members : Principal of the Organizing College. : Sports Co-Ordinator : Organizing Secretary of the Tournament Four Senior Physical Education Directors of participating Teams.
