What should Juniors be doing now? Continue to take challenging classes and earn good grades. Get involved in school and your community! Colleges and scholarship programs look at extra-curricular activities. What did you DO in those activities? How did you contribute? Create a college binder listing information about what you have done in high school (awards, honors, recognitions, hobbies, activities, work experience). Keep college search information including user-names and passwords. Begin thinking/exploring (Naviance) what colleges you are interested in attending (community college, four-year, local, out of town, out of state, private). What can you afford? How far from home do you want to be? If you are considering a 4-year university directly after high school, begin researching campuses and majors, while considering your career interests. Narrow your list to 6-8 potential schools. In the spring, register for the SAT or ACT and SAT Subject Tests, if required. If you are considering a community college, begin researching campuses and transfer requirements. Visit as many potential university/college campuses as possible, talk with an admissions counselor and begin corresponding via e-mail. Get Started Early. Don t leave everything to the last minute.
