Churchfields Weekly Newsletter Thursday 13 October 2016 GARDEN AND GROUNDS TIDY UP Atworth Base Saturday 15th October, 10:00am 1:00pm As we are now well into October it is the perfect time to do some clearing out and tidying up of the greenery around the school grounds. If you are able to spare an hour or more on Saturday we would really appreciate it. Coffee, tea, pastries and biscuits will be available to sustain you! Jobs that need doing include: Digging over the flower bed, and veg beds, Llifting bulbs to replant in more manageable baskets. Laying down weed proof membrane Pruning and tying in the willow tunnel Strimming and cutting back brambles in the Forest School Area Removal of border rocks from the old herb bed to use around the fire pit Strimming and clearing of the area around the greenhouse Emptying and siting of large donated patio pots Clearing bark from the play area in readiness for our new learning lodge. Emptying, turning and moving the compost bin to a more accessible spot. Cutting the dead conifer trees that were cut down in the spring to stumps (saws needed!) Many hands would make light work, so if you are able to help please contact the school office before Friday 14th October (so I know how many biscuits to buy!) Children are welcome but remain the responsibility of their parents at all times. Please bring along any tools you may have as we only have a small selection of child friendly tools in our shed. (Forks, spades, trowels, shears, loppers, secateurs, gloves, wheelbarrows, brooms etc.) If anyone has a trailer or vehicle that could be used to take some of the green waste away then that would be a fantastic bonus. Many thanks in anticipation of your support, Andrea Liddiard Outdoor Learning Leader P.S. GARDEN & GROUNDS TIDY UP AT MONKTON FARLEIGH COMING SOON.
