(1John 3:18) This verse from the second reading at Mass last weekend is a simple reminder of how we can follow Jesus and live out our call to love as Jesus did. On Monday night, I had the opportunity to attend Mass with our Year 6 students who are currently on camp in Batchelor. Fr Tom travelled down for Mass and spoke to the students about love, and how this is the most important message that Jesus has give us. The students were having a wonderful time and we look forward to welcoming them home today. Camps do not just happen - they are well planned and I thank Sarah Morrissey, Tegan Sterle and Rahima Piggott, as well as the parents who have volunteered their time to assist: Trent Fowler, Lloyd Hamilton and Ray Colley. This week we welcome Sarah Heathwood to our school. Sarah is teaching in Transition, Room 1 and I trust that you will all make Sarah feel welcome as a staff member at Sacred Heart. The swimming program finishes tomorrow (Thursday) with no classes on Friday. There are many tired children around the school at the end of the day. If you have any feedback regarding the reintroduction of the swimming program, please let me know. Our school has been selected to participate in a NAPLAN Equating Study this year. Some students in Years 3 and 5 will take part in this next week. Schools are randomly chosen and the results are not recorded with the actual NAPLAN test. The NAPLAN testing for all Year 3 and 5 students will take place in Week 4, May 15, 16 and 17. The Parents and Friends are busy organising the Mothers Day stall, raffle and breakfast. Donations are appreciated and if there are any family members who are willing and able to help cook the breakfast on Friday May 11 th, please contact the Office. It would be great to be able to give these Mums the morning off and cook a breakfast to thank them for their wonderful work. The raffle has some fantastic prizes remember to get your tickets in soon. A reminder for those who are preparing with the Sacramental Program in the Parish that there is a parent meeting on Monday 7th at 7pm, with the Sacrament of Reconciliation being held on Thursday at 7.00pm, followed by supper. Have a great week ahead, and enjoy the long weekend. I pray that this week we may remember the words from scripture let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
