ALL ABOARD January 2019 New Year New Deal New Start Throughout recorded time whenever a crisis has arisen which required either a change in perception or routine, we have found it necessary to adapt or change our way of doing something to meet that need. We have arrived at such a junction. It has become necessary to change our ways of dealing with information and the manner in which it is disseminated. In other words We are making some changes to the newsletter. Sorry to have been edge of the seat apocalyptic and all, but hey, we are the news and catchy headlines are what sells papers. During the Annual Christmas party, a few of us were chewing the fat, which by the way was not in any of the dishes Jim served up. But anyway, it was mentioned during the talk that perhaps our newsletter should become more like that of some other clubs or organizations and include more news and articles of interest. In that light from this point on I will be issuing the meeting minutes a day or so following the meeting and we will be actively seeking contributions of articles, photos, news from members, work in progress and so forth. This can be an article from members on how to projects, pictures of your layout, new train stuff Santa brought you, reports from an out of town show you attended, etc. It doesn t need to be a doctoral thesis, just some info, a few pictures, general information. We could have a small classified section maybe for members to list items for sale. These are just a few of the possibilities we can explore. We can discuss other possibilities at the meeting. Our next train show will be the SAMRA 43rd Annual Fall Jamboree and Train Show, Feb 23rd and 24th at the Garden Ridge Community Center in beautiful downtown Garden Ridge. The center is located at 9500 Municipal Parkway. This venue is a smaller venue, so the layout will not be a large one. Following that, our next show will be the 31st Annual NBRRM Train Show Jamboree on April 13th and 14th at the New Braunfels Civic Center. This show traditionally has us on the stage and we are still in the layout design phase on this one. Please make a note on your calender that due to the show date the April meeting will be held one week early on April 6th. I will remind you in future newsletters. The Christmas party was great and if you weren t there you missed a great party. Lots of food, lots of fun, lots of members (18). See ya at the next one. We had a good turnout for our layout at TTM for their Christmas Gala. We were strategically located near Santa s throne and they had to go past the layout to get to the Jolly one. Many thanks to those who manned the layout, I was ther only two nights but saw such notables as Jim Ciliberto, Ray, Mark, Bob A, Gary, Tom, Jim Cottrell aka (SC), Nathan, and I m sure a few others I can t remember or were there on the days I wasn t there. I m sure the folks at TTM appreciated the help and hopefully saw what we are capable of doing.
